    ... because it seems the price of Nintendo Points, which replace them on this date, will be 50% higher in the eurozone.

    The UK's price might be different to the eurozone price, it might not. But judging on recent price rises it might be better to buy points before the 3rd of April.

    If the sight of French scares you, look away from the screen now.

    Les Nintendo Points arrivent, mais...

    Avec l'arrivée du service DSiWare et des nouveaux Nintendo Points (utilisables sur Wii et DSi), le géant nippon décide d'augmenter le prix de 50%. Pour 100 Points, il ne vous faudra plus dépenser 1€ mais 1.50€ ! Voici les nouveaux prix :

    1000 Points => 14,99€
    2000 Points => 24,99€
    3000 Points => 39,99€

    Les Nintendo Points Cards seront disponibles dès le 3 avril en Europe.

    Yeah, I know, incentivise use of the Wii Shop by making it a little easier to run from SD card and then raising the prices.

    Insert facepalm here.

    Ah Nintendo the company that gives and keeps on giving.

    I wonder will this be enough to get a yelp out of the resident Ninty fanboys or will they rush to justify this one too?

    That would account for about 25%

    The rest be pure profit. :D

    And given that I thought one of the main arguments these companies had against imports was that it harmed the distribution of profit/turnover between their regional outlets, how does the exchange rate have anything to do with it when you're therefore buying from your "local" Nintendo?

    The timing does seem poor; surely they'd want to improve uptake on the new services? The only way I can see this making sense is if the price of content slides down below 500 points; somehow I doubt that happening.

    I'll hold off for some kind of official press release before penning Nintendo a letter, however, as it could simply be that this only applies to cards and the online price via the shop may not change (I live in hope; especially since I buy far more downloadable content than disc-based content and if I have to make a choice it will be for the former).

    Another kick in the teeth - congrats Nintendo. I think I'll stick to buying old carts from ebay instead.

    £14 for an old n64 game that you cant even sell on or keep if the machine dies. that sucks and blows at the same time.

    Either they'll be reducing WiiWare/VC prices to compensate, or they really are a bunch of twats.

    Well this is somewhat ridiculous...

    I know they are a business and everything but surely they are making enough of a profit already that they don't have to make a 50% mark up of games that were made years ago...

    Seriously?! :o

    Same old 'Nintendo being twats again shocker'.

    Same old cocks complaining about 'Nintendo being twats again shocker'. Again.

    That pretty much sums it up.

    Wow. I fluctuate from "The Wii is OK really," to "Fuck me I hate the Wii." Just when I was thinking the VC catalogue was getting pretty good, they do this. Nintendo really are a bunch of useless cunts.

    Or - if it's not in the UK - hahah, stupid Europeans!
