I wasn't sure whthe to post this in the 360 section, but here goes anyway.

I remeber renting this game back before the 360 even existed, and I'm pretty sure i enjoyed it (I don't have the best of memories)

I was thinking of buying it preowned as it won't cost much at all.
Thing is I'm not sure whether i'll still enjoy the game now, It was definietely good fun when I first played it, but will I enjoy it after playing newer, next gen games?

    Your opinions would great.
    Thanks

It's fucked on backwards compatibility, apparently.

If you've got a PC you'd almost be better off going back to the first two and playing them.

It was and still is excellent, I still have my copy and xbox to play it on, but as Gremmi states it doesn't work that well on 360 BC. When I tried, there was a problem with the light and fire effects filtering through the scenery and walls.

Just to add, the pc games are also excellent.

    It is BC though?

Interesting because I never beat it after buying it all those years ago.

Nah. The first two are undoubtedly better games (especially The Metal Age) but that doesn't mean that Deadly Shadows is rubbish - far from it. Plus it does include one of the best levels of any Thief game ever in the form of the Cradle.

If you've got a PC get all three of them on that format and book a month off.

Yep, I promised myself I'd deal with my email backlog tonight. Sorry - I am a slack bastard.

cradle is awesome, very few levels have creeped me out as much as that one does.

the 2nd one is probably my favourite though.

For anyone that wants to (re)play it on the PC, there are texture packs, widescreen hacks and whatnot out for Thief 3. I had reinstalled it a while back, and consoley interface aside, it still looked nice enough.

Thanks for the all the help guys.
I would go PC but I'm so much better using my 360 controller than the keyboard and mouse. Though if I see the old games cheap I might just pick them up too. :D

I've been meaning to go back a play a load of old PC games that my PC back then wasn't able to play.

Thief certainly falls into that category. Are the stories all linked or just seperate stories based around the premise of sneaking?

The first two are indeed awesome. I have a slight preference for the first, maybe only because it was more unique. I hadn't played anything like it before. Bear in mind though, they look really, really rough these days. They weren't exactly stunners when they were released, and time might not have been kind, especially if you see them the first time now.

Don't think the 3rd was quite as bad as disc says. It's not the classic he first tow are, but it has a good structure (better than the first two), and some really, really good level design.

    Huzzah!

Just completed this on the PC and I rather enjoyed it alot. Only played the Demo of the first one and the first 3 levels of the second at a friends many many years ago, so they are all but gone from my mind. Some bits of the story were jumps, I guess because I didn't really know anything about Garrett or anything, but the missions were fantastic on the most part, but the city hub was just a pain in the arse to navigate around with all the guards.

Top stuff anyway, probs go back and nab the originals some how.

If you thought Thief Deadly Shadows was good the originals will make you wet your pants. Good luck trying to get them to work on your pc though.

Likewise, 'Life of the Party' is quite possibly my favourite level in anything, ever.
