9 for design, 8.8 for story and 8.2 for gameplay. Fucking madness."You see it too? For me, it's always like this..."

Even so, the game is clearly a bit of a stinker. -

My problem with it is that it's a generic-as-fuck action based third person shooter which i've played before a billion times. The industry is just incredibly stagnant now.
It's almost not the devs/publishers fault that it ended up like this. There are only a few different types of game now so they had to slot it into one of the pigeon holes for it to actually sell. -

No scares, no surprises, lots and lots of shooting...
Resi 6 delivers plenty of bang for your buck, and co-op makes everything better. But is it worth a more discerning dollar? Let's put it this way: we wouldn't buy it full price.
Samey shooting starts to grind
8/10
Zero scares
QTE sections wrestle control from you, vehicles drive like boxes on wheels

Registered 4 years agoReviews are all over the place. Even w/ Sterling's hyperbole on the D-toid review, Cap's full-on action switchover from RE4 to RE5 was a massive warning sign for this one. Combine that with what the "AAA" industry is aiming for today in terms of sales and you have the so-called "Michael Bay game" that disconnected publishers think gamers want. -

This perfectly sums it up and is applicable for most business practices these days. It's not what the consumers want, it's what the shareholders want.

Fuck you Capcom, fuck all you other lazy bean counting publishers and corporate cunts.
RIP Resident Evil.*
*Sadly this game will sell like hot cakes to the casual crowd and Capcom won't give a fuck. -

I've been playing video games for quite a while now and can smell a stinker from a mile away. Having played the second demo, I can say with certainty that I would never give it a 9 for design, 8.8 for story and 8.2 for gameplay. Because it's fucking madness.
I played the demo and it wasn't for me so won't be getting it, but I'm not making it a mission to tell everyone how shit it is and telling those who enjoyed it that they are wrong."You see it too? For me, it's always like this..."

I see a rather large shitstorm has erupted over at CVG towers.
Rob Crossley has intervened in the comments saying he doesn't think it's a good review, and Rich Stanton has gone on twitter saying "HATE having my stuff on CVG. Fuck that site" and also accusing sites that give the game a bad score are lowballing. Despite his own text matching up pretty exactly with all of the lower-scoring reviews elsewhere. Some very poor professionalism there. Funnily enough, he's a contributor to EG, who would count among the sites he is accusing of deliberately lowballing. I think he hasn't done his career any favours at all with all this.
Which all suggests to me that, quite simply, the review should be taken down by CVG, re-done by someone else, and Rich Stanton shouldn't have his work published on CVG anymore (or anywhere else he just collectively insulted like EG, Edge, etc).
At least Rob Crossley managed to maintain his professionalism in his response.
