You need Dragon's Dogma to get the demo anyway, don't you?

    Capcom fail.

Yes mate, but it is only timed that way, looking at the cover, it is until the end of the month.

Hi chaps, the demo is up now, there was a 4mb update when starting Dragon's Dogma which opens up access to the Resi 6 demo (I had to exit to xbox dash after the update then restart the game again for it to appear).

You have to access the Resi download through the main menu of Dragon's Dogma, it's the bottom option. I'm downloading now - it's 838.70MB.

    Got it.

Never played 5 so can't say much about that/differences.

Playing Leon stuff now - spooky, explorey, shooty. Seems good, nice dialogue at points. Some screen-tear (minor). Feels just like a modern Resi. Some doors require AI to open also (seemingly pointlessly), and the AI is pretty good at doing it instantly. Felt more old-school - zombies, Racoon-esque settings.

Now for Chris's part: action, Resi 4 on steroids. Quite good fun - lovely looking level, if a bit of a maze (or feels like one). Nothing outstanding, but a definite change of pace. Be much better in co-op (not through any AI faults, but simply as a 'squad' shooter) - same Resi controls, however. Ganados or w/e the hell the baddies are.

Jake/Sherry: I've no idea who these two are (unless Sherry is the feckin' daughter from 4?). Seemed to deal with a big nasty Nemesis-esque fucker, who was evil as hell. Killed me a few times. That section seemed like a mix of the above two, but with the Resi 3 Nemesis element - which I like. Similar to Chris, Ganadaos or w/e.

Gameover screen has a helpful 'you are dead', also.

By AI, do you mean your partner or a guy who follows you around with a set of keys?

    @RedSparrows

I think Sherry is actually Sherry Birkin, the daughter of William Burkin (creator of the G-Virus), from Resident Evil 2.

Ah ok. Been so long since I played 2/3/CV.

And any of them, actually. I wish they'd release a 'Total RE' collection on 360/PS3/PC.

Just played the demo. I much preferred Leons scenario, it just felt more RE to me.

Yeah, I was thinking the same elvenscroll, the Leon bit feels more like proper Resident Evil; dark, claustrophobic, creepy and 'proper' zombies etc. There was even a piano room! There seemed to be less ammo available in that part compared to the others too, so I tried to make the most of my available shots!

The Chris part just felt like an average third person shooter, I mean zombie/mutant guys shooting at you with machine guns...eh!? Not really anything like Resident Evil at all and a bit of a let down to be honest!

The Jake part was a bit better, running from that big Nemesis type guy with his freaky mechanical arm device, the bastard managed to grab me with that the first time... not nice

From the demo I'd personally say Leon section>Jake section>Chris section.

I'd add that the AI seemed to be fairly competent, but there was noticeable screen-tearing in all three sections and during cut-scenes too (perhaps the PS3 version will have lower frames/no tearing like Dragon's Dogma did??). Also, it's a very small detail, but I did like that the gun laser sight has selectable colours in the options (applies for all three character sections) - I went for green, heh :p

Overall, now I've tried the three parts, I'd have loved the focus for the whole of Resident Evil 6 to have been one big version of the Leon section, it just seemed the best fit for this series for the reasons mentioned above. The other sections, especially the Chris section, seemed far too generic an in-line with other games that do TPS's better.

Didn't notice that in the demo, especially as there's still health sprays and herbs to pick up, so I doubt it. I will however, check again a bit later just to be sure!

I wish they'd remake 2 in the style of the Gamecube RE1 remake. It seems further away from happening than it ever has. :(

They had their chance on the GC, but pulled out for whatever reason and ended up just re-releasing the originals. No chance of it happening now in the HD generation, I would have thought.

Yeah it doesn't seem likely. IIRC, Capcom were still talking about doing it as recently as a few years ago (around the time of RE5), but now everything is first-third-person Unreal engine co-op online multiplayer. Can't see it happening. Maybe in a few years they might think about it again.

Dunno if this is heading to Europe but it could be what you're looking for man.

Hmm I'm intrigued by the reports of the Leon part of the demo. Also the fact that the campaign sounds huge too.

Hope there's some Grade Burton dialogue as well.

I'd advise playing 5. Ive never understood the hate it gets, i personally think its an outstanding game, especially when played with a friend.

It's fucking awful overly long tedious third person shooter. It's basically everything wrong with modern mainstream games in one nice neat package.

As Rodriguez says, the Leon part is 'creepy Resi', which I liked.

The Chris part wasn't average per se, but it was generic - if that makes sense. Quantitative/qualitative.

Jake part was all about the big dude, from what I saw - but again, machine gun wielding enemies. Not so fun.

Curses, PS3 gets the best bundle by far. Why the hell can't Capcom just release Zero to CV on one disc, for every machine under the sun?

I got RE2 off PSN a while ago. They really should've stopped after that, they were never going to better it.

There were never any plans to remake Resident Evil 2, 'whatever reason' would primarily be, Nintendo not being interested in paying for it like they did for REmake.

Nintendo only splash out in the first year or two of a platform's life, they've made a profit and don't care about release droughts after that point.

All hail the age of co-op gaming and it's refusal to let you pause a single player game!
