I know I shouldn't have, but I thought I'd take a look at Linehan's account. See if he's gotten any better. Nope.

Scroll down to about 10 hours ago and look at his 'conversation' with the almostgames person. Jesus. A pretty perfect example of the kind of the thing the blog post is talking about.

I despise twitter more with each passing day. They love incorporating twitter comments into regular tv shows now, which is so annoying.

I don't care what random people or celebs have to say about Amish Mafia! It's just another worthless banner getting in the way of my enjoyment/unobstructed view of the actual show.

Yet I can't help but read every one!!!

I'm the same, Mowgs. I'm on to my third account, and I haven't signed in for months. I get an E-mailed 'update' of Tweets that I've missed - usually stuff that I'm glad to have missed, to be honest.

Twitter isn't about signing up and sitting back, it's about having interests and following the accounts that feed your interests. For example, I like comics and football, hence I follow DC/Marvel/Dark Horse and many artists and writers. I also follow comic journos and review sites. I also follow numerous football journalists and newspapers.

Videogame journos, sites, developers are also there. As are some musicians and bands.

These people don't come to me, I seek them out. Coupled with Reuters, BBC, Danish news etc. my timeline is a constant stream of things I want to read about.

I dunno about stuff you want to read about. The celebrities, writers and people I investigated following almost always A) never post at all, B) just share stuff that's doing the rounds, or C) actually turn out to be complete dicks. I was actually put off Arrested Development for a while because it transpired that Jason Bateman is actually kind of stupid.

Never have the words "shower of cunts" felt so apt before twitter arrived.

Twitter is only a platform for idiots to express themselves...
I absolutely fucking hate the thing and I wish it would fuck off and die and take the carcass of Facebook with it...

it's equally as trendy to say twitter is shit and the worst thing since sliced hitler, as it is to say how amazing is it. Everyone is a twat basically, apart from me who doesn't really care one way or the other.

What annoys me is the fact that its shoveled in my face. My mates, tv, radio and pretty much everywhere else. You cant look at anything nowadays with out being asked to 'check us out on blah fucking blah'.
  • Deleted user 23 April 2013 23:12:06
It's mostly just annoyingly endemic of society nowadays. People need a constant stream of information, even if that information is fundamentally worthless. Everyone has to be first and everything has to be live and new.

"Did you see that tweet Brian Cox wrote twenty minutes ago?"
"Twenty minutes ago? Catch the fuck up. That's old."
    "Yeah, but-"
"Can't talk to you now, Kanye just tweeted about his new bath towels."

    etc etc
