I'm starting to realise that I have so little free time outside of work/gym/socialising like a boss that I'll never read all the books I want to read, play all the games I want to play, or see all the films I want to see.

    It's actually quite depressing.

@Murbal Haha, no. :p The one I'm reading has more dragons, although I think your suggestion might be improved by introducing a dragon into the story.

@CosmicFuzz Aw. At least you have socialising in there, though! That would be far more depressing if you'd just said 'so little free time outside of work/gym'.

But the clear answer here is to give up sleep. :p

This is true. If I cut out an hour a night I could get 7 hours a week more gaming time. That's enough to blast through something short or an RPG in about a month!

Giving up sleep for gaming is not a very good idea (just in case you were being serious). Besides, if you're really tired you'll find it hard to concentrate and so probably won't enjoy most games anyway, especially a boring old JRPG. :p

And yes, it's a sobering thought when you realise you only have so much time to play all the things you want. Especially when you're as fickle as I am, with something shiny always around the corner.

@Kay The :p was meant to signify it was a joke, but I forgot that spoilers don't show on mobiles. Don't do it, kids! ;)

And yeah, those shiny new things... and sales.

Haha I'd forgotten about that terrible scene. What a film.

And yeah, I love my sleep far too much to give it up! I've been sacrificing some this week for early morning runs before work and I can already feel my body crying out at me in anger. Sleep in tomorrow...

It's the shittiest thing about being a grown up IMO, that realisation that most of your time will be spent at work and that little spare time you do have is best spent keep in touch with people/pub. It hit me in the face a few months back when moving to a smaller flat and selling a load of stuff at CEX. There was a depressing amount of games either half finished or just started, never to grace the disc drive ever again :(

Pro tip: if you see something on the shelf and promise yourself you'll get back to it, just sell it. You will never have the time and if by some miracle you do, chances are something else has come out and got your attention.

On the plus side I've got next week off for my birthday and I'm committed to starting and/or finishing Tales of Xillia, Killer is Dead and GTA V. It's going to be tough but I should make a dent with a few 12 hour marathon sessions in between the boozer ;)

EDIT: ah I remember what I logged in to post now. I tried the Vita port of Jak and Daxter on the train today. Flipping heck it has to rank as one of the dodgiest conversions I've ever come across. The menu even has the option to toggle vibration!

There's definitely a lot more 'is this a good use of my time' moments as you grow up and grasp the concepts of time/mortality a bit better. This definitely also applies to selecting which games you are going to devote your precious time with

I very much agree with you all, on being a grown up etc. It is depressing. I have a huge backlog of games and really miss the days when I could just spend all day playing them :D

Plus as Kay said, there's always the temptation of getting new games and consoles rather than playing the ones you have, further increasing the epic backlog.

I work hard, and between that, girlfriend, dog, chores, etc etc, there just isn't much time to play games.

I reckon less internet, more games is a good idea.

Internet is something you really don't miss when cutting down on, I've found. I used to spend a lot of time online that I now spend gaming and it's definitely preferable. I barely use the internet outside of work/travelling now.

Online gaming and downloading stuff are the best uses of the Internet IMO.

Spot on, hell I only post on here during coffee breaks at work, the commute or when I'm having a cigarette break at home. 1/3 of that time would be cut down if the lady would let me smoke inside ;)

Even then there's not enough game time!

And that's why we all have a vita. Mine gets played when the missus is watching tv that I'm not interested in or I'm on my way too or from work.

My Vita gets used on the commute (not on the Tube though...) and sometimes in the evening whilst Mrs F_P is watching trash TV or in the morning at weekends when I'm meant to be looking after the children...

Without my Vita, my gaming time would probably reduce by 90% (or I'd own a 3DS!)

    You're right about that.

It's just so addictive in how easy it is to veg out on the internet, mindlessly trawling this and that.

That's one of the reasons I just bought a couple of PSPs and I'm about to get a Vita, to get some quick blasts of gaming here and there without having to commit to sitting down in front of the Plasma etc. Handhelds are so convenient.

@rumblesushi You're doing the right thing. It's a really solid platform. If you like fps then get killzone. Very good game and multiplayer is unsurpassed on the vita.

@Help_me I can see what you mean about the 3DS (I feel like I outgrew the core Nintendo franchises a while back) although I'd grab one if it wasn't for the damn region lock. Much like the original DS, it seems like half the games I want for it won't see the light of day in this country. The only way around it is to get a US one and I don't fancy import prices for every game. The Vita does me fine for now thankfully.

Ah well, Nintendo's loss I suppose. It's such a shame, I liked alternating between my PSP and DS based on my their release schedule at any given time :(

@FanBoysSuck At the moment there's not much difference in price buying US games over UK ones. I have a US 3DS XL rather than EU because of the region lock, and even with postage it works out around the same (for those that are released here, anyway!).

If I get one of these Vita/memory card/10 games pack things, are the 10 games individual codes, or all one code? I'd quite like to sell a couple of them and give a few of them away, but not sure if I can.
