It's good, but it's very Japanese and not for everyone. I'd say if you've never had contact with this sort of stuff before, there's a bigger chance you won't like it than that you will.

What is "this sort of stuff", what's a good comparison?

I do tend to prefer Japanese games and films to any other country's.

Did you play Virtue's Last Reward? It's in some ways a lot like it and in other very unlike it. :-) It's part visual novel, part adventure game, part old-school JRPG (at least environment-wise). Appreciation of Japanese culture and sensibilities is certainly helpful.

Can't you have your own thread for "this sort of stuff"? It's a bit niche innit.

So what about those memory cards eh?

It's almost like they don't want people to be able to buy the games on the PS Store.

I don't think the price drop was enough, especially when you can get a much faster SDHC card for half the price.

@L0cky Did you want the memory card thread? Could do with a bump, what with the new size, anyway.

I haven't played Virtue's, but it's quite possible I'd like both of them, if they're offbeat and Japanese. I'll give CP a try.

Go ahead and do that, just keep in mind it can be pretty disturbing, behind the childish gfx.

Edit: don't be getting Book of Shadows before completing the original, though.

Virtue's Last Reward took a few hours to click with me but once it did I thought it was excellent. (Not tried Corpse Party though).

    So, MGS2.

I have to say, I was initially a bit worried: the intro cinematic before the title screen was blurry, low-res and macroblocked to hell. Happily, once I got into the game it was clear and crisp, and it looks great and runs very nicely indeed (not that I didn't believe F_P :p ).

I seem to have a bit of trouble with moving along walls and peeking round corners on the stick - either I'll peek the wrong way or become unstuck from the wall. So I tried the touchscreen implementation for edging along walls and peeking, and it actually works really well. Being able to zoom in during cutscenes is a nice little touch, too.

I'm really enjoying it so far, but I'm still on the tanker section, which I loved when I first played it. We'll see how I feel when I'm in control of Raiden - I found Big Shell a bit boring last time, but with a bit more knowledge of the MGS series this time round, I'm hoping I'll enjoy it more.

Another quick question (sorry): Is it worth grabbing Portable Ops from PSN?

FFXIV: ARR - Khroma Midgard, Odin.

Probably, but beware Portable Ops+ - it's a different game, and MP only, IIRC.

    @aros

Think there is a general one, not a Vita specific one if that's what you are looking for.

I went into GAME on Saturday and their Vita section has expanded a lot. From one shelf right at the bottom to an entire column of shelves! PSP games were even to the left of it rather than using up part of the Vita space.

I was really shocked. An indication of the Vita picking up in sales? They say sales have increased by 100% during the summer so I am guessing it's starting to be reflected in store space.

HMV still have the large column of Vita stuff but their prices are so insane I can't imagine anyone ever buys games from there. The last time I did was Sonic All Stars for £28 (well my gf) before last Christmas. Games that should be £10 are still £40. insane.

No, my payday is the 19th so I was on my last slices of money!

I will likely go to pick up Army Corps of Hell this week though, despite being sure it used to be £10, I think it will be worth £12. I'll just play a little bit every now and then and repetitiveness won't be an issue. Has anyone else tried the game?

    October's PS+ is excellent.

    http://www.vg247.com/2013/09/18/atlus-parent-acquired-by-sega-for-%C2%A514-billion-report/

Sega have bought Atlus. What do you guys think this means for Vita support? Hopefully they will not stop Atlus from releasing stuff on Vita. Come on Sega! What about a Vita version of the Sega RPG? Let Atlus USA translate.

    ______________

The Hamster game is on sale for 71p with +. Seems rude not to buy at that price. It's a game where the graphics really show off the OLED too.

Really glad Lone Survivor is out next week. I've had £25 on my account for 3 weeks waiting for it now!

I'm a little worried about the future of the Atlus localisation team, but overall it isn't far from the best possible outcome for Atlus as a company. Sega have a good record of leaving acquired developers alone to do what they do best.

The translation thing doesn't bother me too much as I tend to buy games in the original language, but if they keep on any of the Atlus USA guys I think that would make translations more likely, given they have both the talent and (possibly more importantly) the enthusiasm for projects to get them out of the door.

Yes, but think of games like VC3. ;) I think it's best just to wait and see how it works out. Hopefully for the best.

True! It's hopefully enough credit for something else too :)
