Oh, fair enough - When looking at the article I only saw the two pictures, one above the other with the old model first and the new second. The old was lit properly and colour balance was correct, the new was washed out/yellow across the entire image not just the Vita's screen.

If that is reflected in images where you can see both together then it was my mistake.

What are the chances of 'One finger death punch' making it to the vita?

@Jubs95 Yes. Also imagine that 'yes' whispered creepily behind you. It is a game that must be played with headphones.

@santashi Well that successfully creeped me out enough to convince me to get it.

    Don't do it.

Not unless you want to hear teenage schoolgirls talking about which cream is best for a cracked, dry arsehole and shit gameplay.

And I am not even making stuff up for effect here.

@RyanDS It's not about the gameplay. And it sounds like you need arse cream. DON'T LISTEN JUBS.

    No seriously.

It is very atmospheric. But it is incredibly shit gameplay wise, with unskippable custcenes straight before instakill sections (with slow dialogue that makes it even worse.) Appalling controls, while also requiring perfect timing to get past enemies.

And has a healthy dose of peaedophilia making it more creepy than it should be.

I randomly skipped thru a gameplay vid, all talking. No thanks.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

    No seriously.

It's not about the gameplay :-D
The *perfect timing* isn't so, you just need to make an angle and dash past.
The 'paedophilia' is typical Japanese fare, I'm sure you knew what you were getting into.
And yes, the unskippable cutscenes are a balls, but if you enjoyed it enough to seek all endings, it won't bother you, they fixed it for the sequel. There are more than enough save points, it's normal difficulty progression really.

EDIT : besides those spikes/one or two jump/scream insta-kill moments you mentioned.

This was my conclusion after trying to get through it twice. It also has completely arbitrary multiple paths, meaning I had to hit a guide up just to get through the first chapter. It was a real shame as the story/atmosphere is great. CP just fails in pretty much every other way. This is from someone who can happily grit their teeth and put up with a terrible game if the story is good enough.

    For the emperor!

It really bugs me, that. I know I'm not the target audience for these things, but I just don't get why people want it in there. I'd love to recommend Book of Shadows to RL friends, but that opening of the first chapter had me chewing my knuckles at the icky cringiness, and that was even with taking the headphones off and skipping through the conversation. And pretty much anything with Yuka. There is a good story but hindered by the 'fan service'.

I hope no one thinks I'm condoning the hyper-sexualised depictions of young women and incest, I just mean to say Japanese culture finds this totally acceptable, as you all know I'm sure.

No, didn't think you meant you were in favour at all. :) I wouldn't say it's all Japanese by any means, though. A lot of them are embarrassed by it too. ;)

*Their Japanese young people market business term thing that they're aiming the *fan service* at find it acceptable. Sorry Santashi :-( Over-generalising things.

I do love how passionate the Japanese get with their pastimes, at the complete opposite end of the spectrum to the various customs displayed interpersonally and professionally. They have an amazing serious/silly balance :-D

MGS = done! Next up, MGS2 of course!

I must say, playing MGS on Vita was a bit of a chore at times. The rear touch pad is fine with movement, but it doesn't seem to like static touches, like leaving your finger in one place to access item/weapon menus; I'd be keeping my finger in one place, and the menu would be popping in and out for a handful of seconds.

I also had a few problems with Ocelot's torture, which was probably a little more difficult than it should have been as the Vita's face buttons aren't quite as responsive as a pad's - I'd be mashing the button and sometimes it wouldn't register a push or the button hadn't actually been fully released. Maybe it's just because the buttons are small? My hands are also aching from the final punch-up with Liquid atop Metal Gear REX - I adopted a horrific claw-grip to keep one thumb on the d-pad, the other on the circle button and all other digits AWAY FROM THE BLOODY REAR TOUCH PAD. It took me many attempts, so I was probably gripping the Vita tighter than was necessary :p

Anyway, whingeing aside I absolutely loved it - it's a shame I missed it when it first came out (even though I had a PS1), as it may well have blown my tiny little mind in 1998. I'm looking forward to MGS2 with controls properly mapped to the Vita now, so I might start it up in a bit.

Also, another MGS-related question: I asked in here a few days ago what order I should play them in and was told release order. Then I realised that Peace Walker came out after MGS4 - I had been planning on playing it after 3. What's the best way to go?

FFXIV: ARR - Khroma Midgard, Odin.

Maybe Corpse Party is a game aimed at Japanese youngsters? Not so pervy if you're 12 surely?

Dunno, having CGs of a primary school kid tied down with her dress partially cut off just seems like a no-no, but maybe I'm hypersensitive. Not something I wanted to see, either way! Pretty sure Yuka would annoy me no matter her age, though.

I do like the games, but I'd like them more without things like that.

Opinions seem more negative than positive about CP here. Worth giving a go or not?
