Get the original, later models are always made with cheaper stuff

The original PSP was better than any of the redesigns. I'm interested to see how this new Vita screen looks. They put an inferior display in the slimline PSP and it looked awful, really visible scanlines constantly.

    @ecureuil

These photos do not look particularly encouraging...

I don't think we can tell one way or another from those, really.

However, as ecureuil said, redesigns are always lower quality than the originals.

Interestingly, the mystery port does not appear to be part of the new model. There is definitely only one flap rather than two on top of the new Vita.

    Ethernet port?

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

Build quality and sleekness-wise perhaps the original was nicer, but the later models had better ergonomics and a non-blurry screen.

Have you held an original PSP recently? It feels so oddly-shaped and heavy compared to the Vita.

Thats thanks to the UMD drive but, yeah, it is weirdly angular and the D-Pad is awful.

I like the weight of the original PSP. In practise the Vita is probably better off for being lighter, but the PSP feels higher quality somehow. Still think my mk1 white Vita is one of the nicest consoles ever in terms of design.

I have just sold my original AZN CFW model. I felt sad about it but I hadnt turned it on for two years.

When I took it out to give it a bit of a clean, I was struck by how nice it looked. They really hit the target first time with it.

I had one of the first ever psp models imported from Japan that had the iffy square button. It was a interesting experience playing games like Wipeout. I had to remap the controls!

The PSP certainly looked like a great handheld - until you actually tried to play something on it.

I suppose I'm being harsh, I certainly loved the console and many of its games at the time. But the Vita puts into context just how uncomfortable the PSP was.

Yeah, ergonomically it was a disaster. I remember getting hideous hand cramp after a good session of burnout.

I preferred the second PSP (got the Crisis Core one) as it was that bit lighter. Only handheld console that I remember causing hand pain is the 3DS.

Edit: Thinking about it, I did manage to hurt my thumb on whichever gameboy that Conker game was released on. Only on that one game though. :p

My MGS collection has turned up, so a question: what's the best order to play these games? I know they jump all over the gaff in terms of timeline, but I'm assuming release order?

I'm playing through MGS1 atm. Really enjoying it.

For those with a Vita to hand, could you possibly let me know how much Wipeout 2048 is on the store? Contemplating a rash lunchtime ebay purchase of a physical copy (12), but I do have a few quid in my PSN pouch if its a similar price...

Would defiantly import a 64gig card and sell the 32, it's busting at the seems as it is. How easy / difficult is it to transfer the data?

Also, whilst trying to download TWD last night, when the Vita goes on Auto-sleep, it pauses the download, as does when I press the standby button.

I've had a look in the settings and I can't see any option to disable the feature, any ideas folks? I've never noticed it before but it's pretty annoying.
