Being able to switch between different games and pick up right where you left off is exactly the sort of feature I'd have expected from the Vita, tbh.
    Yeah, exactly.

Sleep is great though, very minimal battery drain ime, but the feature regression in this regard is surprising.

    That'll be great.

Should lend itself to a few EG showdowns.

Completely unrelated point, but I'm also one of these people who rarely buy used games. I happened to wander into a CEX the other day though and find a used copy of Tales of Eternia on the PSP that looks brand new! Case, manual, UMD - it all looks almost untouched :)

    Was it the un-glitched version?

There was a glitched one? Tales of Eternia was the first game I bought for the PSP (along with the console itself). :)

Yeah there was a game breaking bug in early copies. The game would freeze when you press a switch required progress. Google "tales of eternia volt glitch". I have have an unglitched copy and helped out quite a few people pass it by doing the puzzle on thier save.

@Malignant I... err... have no idea. I guess the only way to tell would be to play it? Maybe that's why it's second-hand but in such good condition - that'd be just my luck :D

Well if you run into it PM me. I can do one last volt glitch bypass.

Hmm, I did give a save file to someone, but I think they'd just lost theirs rather than it being because of the glitch.

What a shame it was spoilt for some. I really loved it. On topic, it should also be on PSN so more people could enjoy it. ;)

I had people send me their save via email then sent it back to them after the puzzle. There was a save point in the same room iirc so literally all they missed was one easy puzzle. Did it that way so they could keep their chars and items, etc. Playing an rpg with someone elses party feels off, especially if you'd spent time grinding, etc.

The glitch was only present in early European versions (the bug was fixed before they released it in the US).

To see which version you have...stick the game into your PSP and see which PSP firmware version is included inside the UMD.

If it's version 2.0 it will have the glitch, if it's version 2.5 then you're safe.

Eternia PSP was never released in the US. :)

I agree that using someone else's savefile is hardly ideal, but it was just luck that I happened to have one near where they'd got up to.

Whoops you're right. That's what happens when you read some info from 2006  (which at the time stated that the US would receive the patched version soon).

    @Spectral You're a wonderful person :D

@Malignant Excellent, I'll give that a go, thanks for the heads-up! Or at least I will, once I locate my PSP charger. It hasn't been used since I got my Vita, but I have a handful of games that I wanted to play/re-play on it (Star Ocean, Silent Hill Origins, Valkyria II, and now this), so I guess now is as good a time as any.

And yes, as @santashi says, if these were all on PSN I could just play them on my Vita.

Going to have to cancel my Dragon's Crown preorder from VG+ I think. If it's definitely coming out over here then the wait will do my backlog good!

Whats the score DLC wise for Dragon's Crown? If there is going to be some, I think I'll cancel my order too.

    What?

Bloody hope not! I've not been charged yet so it's not like they have to refund me :-(

"All refunded preorders are subject to a 5% service charge fee to cover costs of transactions. All preorders are taken in full because the product is then prepaid for by us to our suppliers. To avoid this please use the pre order now pay later option when preordering."
I 'preorder now pay later' so should be ok.

I'd emailed them to request the cancellation already so I'm a little relieved ;-)

Aye, I always go for pay later too.

Thinking about it, I do really want the art book so I might just let it go through. I go on holiday August 9th so coming home to Dragon's Crown waiting for me would be pretty awesome.

The artbook worries me too - I get the feeling it will be a bigger temptation for customs ;-)

True, I will probably get home to a massive customs bill but I'm willing to risk it I think. One x Vita game and promotional artbook clearly isn't worth a huge amount so I'm hopeful it will slip through.

Just had my job extended till the end of January too, I was getting so worried I wouldn't be able to buy 90% of Vita releases too! Really happy I will be able to buy every game I'm interested in through to 2014 as I have all of this year so far! :D

The thought of only being able to buy one game a fortnight filled me with a sense of being part of some kind of nightmarish hell on earth.

What is the benefit of turn based combat?

Edit: over real-time combat :) I fancy an rpg/jrpg but have never really played one before mainly because I can't get my head around the turn based stuff

It can be more tactical? Disgaea is very good if you are interested in trying a fully turn based game.

Maybe go for a turn based RPG with action elements as they tend to be slightly more engaging during battles as it requires inputs rather than just waiting.

I'm sure you will get some good recommendations though.

I guess combat in any game is a balance between thought and reaction. The more 'real time' combat is, the less time you have to think about it, and actions are based more on reactions. Turn based games skew this in the opposite direction, you can have all the time in the world to choose your next move, so you can really think about it and strategise.

The draw for my is the epic storylines you get in these JRPGs. I would actually prefer more real time combat if it was my choice.

@aros I was looking at persona 4 golden but wasn't sure if I would be out of my depth.
