Huh? It's excellent. Motion aiming is the best thing ever.
Agreed - phenomenal game. Not without its flaws, but considering the hardware Sony Bend have done an amazing job. While Golden Abyss doesn't quite reach the highs of U2 or U3, it's pretty much on par with the first game.
I found it a complete borefest ,same old scenery throughout the game, gimicky touch screen parts, nothing like its console counterparts. For a handheld game its not bad but was way overpriced on launch like everything else on the vita.lack of multiplayer and general lack of fun made this about a 6.5/10 for me. 1 of the most overhyped games of the year.you will appreciate it more now that's its free and not 40

Whats worth downloading straight away? Ideally free stuff to get started.

    Get Sonic Racing Transformed.

    It's fucking brilliant.

Add me to the Uncharted is fucking awesome camp.

Really don't get why people complain about it. (Unless they didn't like the PS3 versions as well?)

I absolutely loved Uncharted Golden Abyss. The only thing I found a bit frustrating was the boss fights on the hardest difficulty and once someone (Andy?) recommended doing them on a flat surface they weren't really a problem.

I do hope we get another one at some point.

The very final boss fight took me over an hour. Eventually I figured out the very final move had to be done BEFORE the prompt appeared on the screen.

Apart from that though I had a blast on crushing.

Hmm, I did it when it appeared, not before, but it seemed to prefer speed over accuracy on the more squiggly inputs. No need to actually follow the curves closely.

Anyway. :p Thought it was a brilliant game.

If you've got PS+, then Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush are essential. In terms of free - I think Frobisher Says is still gratis and is a decent blast. There are some decent Apps too (YouTube, Skype etc), but I've never used 'em.

    Loved Uncharted.

Can I get the platinum by doing each chapter individually on crushing (after completing on hard) or do I have to start a new save?

@Gregolution yep, you can just go into the chapters on expert. It will continue into the next chapter on expert automatically but you can go back to the menu and do then in whatever order you wish.

I'm still struggling to understand who said uncharted on the vita was bad. Uncharted on the vita is very, very good; not uncharted 2 levels but definitely better than the first uncharted.

I completed Uncharted on Hard yesterday. Glad to see I wasn't alone in being frustrated with the final boss. That was my second play through. Brilliant game.

I've given up on it after maybe the third or fourth cut scene where Drake and the chick stand with their back to the obvious source of danger and get jumped. Bollocks to it. It's the kind of plot device a 10 year old would use, yet Naughty Dog pull stuff like that out of their arses time and again and I'm expected to believe I'm playing a game with a story line for grown ups?

Lovely graphics, infuriating balance mechanic, annoying photography mini-game mechanic, and a plot crafted with fists of ham.

Worth a play for free, though. :-)

I didn't realise it was meant to be a mature game for the older generation.

Here's me just thinking the series is an action-filled silly romp.

In further good news, I managed to reserve a 16gb Memory Card for collection at Argos for 34.99. Woop Woop.

It balances the fact I make a mangled mockery of one of the wee corner metal bits trying to fit a wrist strap on it. Barely 72 hrs unboxed and it's already scuffed. Ah well, at least I got a GAME starter pack for 3.74 (I also made a hash of putting the screen protector on. And to think I'm nearly 30!).

@GeezaTap 35quid for 16GB good find there Geeza. I bought a 16GB stick from the outset (paid 40 from Amazon) and so far with everything I've been playing and downloading seems to be plenty.

I don't have video on it (iPad) and I don't have music (iPhone).

I've not got a screen protector for my Vita and I was wondering whether it was worth it as I bought one of these lovely, lovely Waterfield City Slicker Cases in Brown.

The screen can get a bit greasy sometimes but I've got my trusty lens cloth and so far all is ok.

Where's the cheapest place to get a standalone wifi unit these days? Or if it's a bundle I'd like LBP.

Was someone here selling one for 120 quid with a memory card (not sure if I imagined that)?

@Short-Round Stand-alone seems to be ShopTo at 179. If you want LBP bundled, the cheapest place is (shock) HMV at 199.

Bear in mind that the game is a DL code only so you'll need to re-invest in a bigger memory card anyway. If you're on PSN+ (or looking to get into PSN+), 32GB is advised, while 16GB should be the minimum you grab.

Cheers guys, yep I have PS+ for my new PS3, so was hoping to get the unit for around 120-130 quid (what they were going for on the EU Amazons recently), so I could justify the mental memory card prices.

@Short-Round If you're going after 32GB, don't pay the whopping 80 RRP (I'm sure you know this :)). Amazon and (more recently) Play.com have been selling at 58.

Not so sure on 16GB mind. I can't remember the RRP for that.

@BeebleB I think it has to be the nicest case I've ever had for a portable device and I've been through a few! Well worth the cash to protect my Vita whilst I'm out and about. The Kotaku Review is what really convinced me to invest.

In UK money in came in at 64 quid including shipping and taxes.
    Expensive? Yes!
Protects my pride and joy? Definitely.
Was it worth it? I think so as I hate the plastic hard cases and I didn't want my Vita to look like a Nintendo toy when I break the Vita bad boy out in Airport business lounges.

This may be the last release of WipeOut on a mobile device and because of that I will not be selling the Vita. So I needed a case that's going to last the Waterfield is that case.

The levels are pretty uninspired until you actually get to raid tombs, the mini games are really annoying and the first 3/4 of the game involves split up from girl, find girl, split up from girl, find girl, split up from girl, find girl, split up from girl, kill same 3 enemies over and over again, find girl...

Technically, its fine. Its just incredibly boring.
