The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Noticed the viral ads on the tube yesterday.

To be honest if it's a straight remake with the same plot but little of the violence it'll still be the best sci-fi film released this year.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

It can't be a straight remake - it's not set on Mars.

I heard they tweaked the original lines to take into account the fact they're not on Mars, with no atmosphere etc. Also that Cohaagan steals wigs.

"Dammit Cohaagan, give these people hair!!"

They spent $200 mil on this shite?? Gonna have a tough job breaking even. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea giving Len Wiseman that much money?

You can see where the $ went, can't deny it looks fairly epic CGI wise. Appears it severely lacks the character of the original though. Will be a flop regardless with those costs to make up.

It could actually be revolutionary. It always takes one piece of shit to stop a fad and total recall looks like it could be the very piece of shit to halt the remake explosion in its tracks.

I thought it was based directly on the short story, not the original movie.

Large part of recalls appeal and success was arnie in his prime. Something the studio didnt take into account when budgeting this film.

Only film i have enjoyed with farrell is in bruges.

It's loosely based on both, kind of how the Blade Runner book sequels were based on both the film and the original Electric Sheep short story.

Basically it's a "new adaptation". But the reviews are slating it left, right and centre.

Aside from the fact that it does appear to be crap, the promotion didnt help. As I said earlier, the stuff they chose to emphasise only served to highlight that it was 'total recall but shit'.

And, as damagedinc says, say what you want about arnie but he made that film. Its pretty much him at the pinnacle of his action hero career, whereas colin farrel is known mainly for being a drunken dick who shags models.

Think I pasted the link to the short story total recall is based on here few pages back. That mentions mars but never goes there, also mentions aliens as well

The trailer was basically spot the orginal film scene that the new scene is based on

Really glad this is being panned. There's no reason for its existence.

From the lowest review on Metacritic:

There's something sadly poetic about a movie dealing with disappearing memories that vanishes from your mind while you watch it.

    :D

It looks pretty cool, and that was enough substance for critics to jizz over Prometheus, so I'll take their opinions with some hesitation.

65% from 42 reviews on Metacritic. I don't think I'd say that was them "jizzing over" it. There are always going to be reviews on the higher end of the scale. There even are for Total Recall.

Looks like a BBC Sci fi TV show at times. All seems so hollow with no film feel. Too precise and clean, you can imagine the camera right there, the director pointing out, run here then cut. Doesn't suck you in at all. Funny seeing him wear a similar shirt to Arnie. Did someone really give this a budget of 200 million! Should have got some upcoming director to do a modest budget one like Bowie.

Would have liked Neil Blomkamp directing if he wasn't already working on his next film Elysium

From the reviews it seems as though Kate is the best thing in this film by far. The effects are meant to be very good to.

That's enough to warrent an Unlimited viewing at my local world of Cine.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

From what I hear from the grapevine, the post was horribly mismanaged on this one. If it still looks good then that's thanks to the technology and all the people who lost a month or two of their lives, not despite it.
