@Trowel we have tried everyone under the sun basically and it's all good.

Sure, the Apple ones have a slight edge but not enough to warrant the price.

Thing is, it's so nice to have a physical collection that the quality doesn't matter that much.

Blurb ate supposed to be great value for money but they are the one we haven't tried

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

I've just got a x100s now. Such a great camera, it really makes you feel like photography is fun again.

Completely get that. With the 27mm on my Fuji its fun, with no gear to carry around.

I've also just got an x100s, bought the cheap lens hood for it and went to put it on this morning.
But the poxy thing won't fit. Dodgy thread I think.

Yes, waiting now for X-E1 with 18-55 to arrive. £689, with a free 50-230 via voucher. The 35 1.4 is £409 but I get £100 back on that too. Will cost me about £300 to switch I think, and my X100 is effectively my 35 f2 prime.

Tomo - I was lucky as it because it was for the mag it cost us nothing. He normally charges £180 I think but for a longer day than we had.
Worth £180 had you paid though?

Bastards, the lot of you with all your Fuji talk.

    I lust for one.

Not in the same league as the big boy serious money Fujis but the XF1 is an amazing compact. Picked one up refurbished from Fuji UK for a frankly insultingly cheap price and I haven't bothered with my Pentax K-r since.

Don't get me wrong, the K-r is a lovely bit of kit for the price but in good light the XF1 does just as well. Simply lovely to use, though it would be good to disable the movie button to which my thumb seems curiously attached.

I think so yes, although I'd never do any workshop with more than 5 people, the fewer the better. He got it just right I think.

    Sorry man!

BTW - That last shot isn't anything special but it's using the on-board flash to fill-in. Also the bottom two are straight out camera JPGs.

I visited a stained glass studio armed with X100 and X-E1, had a great time and really pleased with the images.

Was out with 2 friends, we didn't have a mirror on us anywhere. It's the future! (One friend had his new E-M1 and the other had her Sony A7R with a Canon tilt-shift lens on it). I suspect the next time I pick up an SLR it's going to feel very odd, big and heavy.

    Good work both of you.

Love the sky in the last pic. Nice mix over overcast and what almost looks like rain and the bright blue patch. There's a nice feeling of depth with the layered hills. The perspective is doing some tricks. That foreground knoll to the right could be a massive mountain with big redwoods on it or just a knoll with some bushes.

The ground could do with a bit of brightening. Or maybe my monitor is just crap. That may well be the case.

I pushed the ground as far as I could but it started to look all hdr! I am buying a new monitor though. The x100s is a bit of a different beast to what I'm used to when it comes to exposure and I'm having to learn it all over again. I had got into a comfy zone with the Canon cameras but that just doesn't work with this one and I'm getting lots of poorly exposed shots. Slowly getting there though :)

Is this thread broken for anyone else? Last post I can see is 12 Dec 2011.

Edit: Odd, posting that seems to have made the rest visible to me. Odd forum bug.

Hmm. So, I have some pictures of bed bugs on Flickr that someone has spotted. A company wants to use them for their website: www.thamesvalleypestcontrol.co.uk

This isn't the first time I've had a request for the funnily enough. I'm beginning to think I should start requesting a fee... anyone had any similar experiences?

Some meaningless things in the park. I still need an actual camera.

I really like those. You're clearly not hampered by not having a "proper" camera.

We went to Ham Hill in Somerset this morning. Not really a photo trip, just a walk with the kids but I did get the odd nice shot.

Well thanks, but I could do with better focus/aperture control and without all the noise. I especially like to make low-light condition pictures, but the phone just shoots ISO up to the moon then, creating a horrible pixel noise mess. That's what I'd like to have an actual camera for. Not currently affordable though.

    New Leica T announced:
    http://uk.leica-camera.com/Photography/T-System/Leica-T

Looks nice, and not stupidly expensive either at around 1350. Then again it's about the same again for a lens :)

I've never had the chance to use a Leica to find out what the fuss is all about, I really want to give one a try though.

Only with phone alas, but I'm still pretty pleased with it.
