I have taken very few photos in the last 9 months and nothing worth posting. Some nice ones in the Reading museum couple weeks back. With summer coming hopefully be more active.

Same here pretty much, but trying to do something more than macro insects.
The London Marathon went past my flat, so took a few pics of that

    Princess Leia
    Iron Man
    A real bionic man!

But summer is here so will start looking at wandering outside of London over the weekend to try other styles of photography....
Also want to learn more about studio lighting, so will start looking at courses/night classes

I'm a bit gutted as next week I'm off to Leipzig, for Wave Gotik Treffen, a goth and industrial music festival.

Sadly, all music venues do not allow DSLRs in if you don't have a press pass. That and I don't trust Ryanair with my camera equipment (no choice, they are the only company to fly to Leipzig)

So many great photos I'll not be able to take!
    :(

    @Nth

I was reading through your blog and one post jumped out at me - you mention tweaking Lightroom to produce pictures you "like the feel of" with specific cameras; in this instance your X10. This sounds like a different workflow to my own and I was interested in finding out more.

Do you essentially have a preset for each camera you own then? What happens with different lighting conditions? Do you press the "X10" button, then tweak from there?

Any other Lightroom tips? And from anyone else reading.

My own workflow tends to be: process the first image, press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy settings, paste onto photos under the same lighting conditions, tweak where needed, then move to the next situation of shots. How's this compare to everyone elses'? I find it works, but can produce inconsistent results as I move through a long set of pictures. My eye for white balance/contrast seems to gradually drift as I continue processing.

    Also @Nth

How much do you pay for Zenfolio if you don't mind my asking? I see they have a variety of packages. I've got Photocrati at the moment, but frankly the backend has been a dog for me and I'm not sure I'll renew once the year is up.

Not sure what blog post you meant, I guess I was talking about the X10 maybe? First camera I've had in ages where I like the jpegs so much I tend to chuck away the raw files as I preferred the look from the camera. Your workflow sounds just like mine normally is to be honest.

For Zenfolio I went for the 100 option in case anyone was stupid enough to want to buy a print, but when it renews in Jan I'll step down to a cheaper option. It's a superb service and I'm amazed at what you can do in the browser now.

I had to look up what a big stopper was but it has some pretty impressive effects! That photo of your Duelflex looks lovely Nth.

Actually since it's been far longer than I can even remember posting anything in this thread so here's one I took not long ago of the guitarist in a friend's band I was watching.

I bought a really old lens from the 80's for my 5Dmk2 as well which is 70-210mm f4 for only 150 quid which is actually pretty decent. It's so old that it's one of those push-pull jobs to zoom which I find quite bizarre but well worth it for the price.

Just back from a trip to Sri Lanka, basically been the first time I've used my camera for, well, months!

Didn't get anything amazing, mostly just snaps but quite pleased with this one:

    Nice.
Did you ask his permission or is it a candid shot?

I was driving my car the other day and saw that someone had written "The Wall" on a big white wall. The old man who lived in the house behind the wall was out and painting it over.

That could have made for a cool photo.

Cheers guys. Was one of those shots you just know is going to turn out ok when you press the button.

Was a candid Tonka, luckily the GF1 is a lot more subtle than my 40D ;-)

Quite like this one as well: Sri Lankan Road

Yeah, I know what you mean, there's nothing particularly great about it but it just seems to have a nice feel to it.

Boring kit update. My D5100 with the Nikon 35mm 1.8G is the finest combination I've ever used. High ISO is amazing too.

Yeah, my first reaction was it looks like the opening shot to a new scene in a film. I'm expecting the camera to pull back and see two people walking up the path.

Well, I have upgrade from a compact to a bridge so I have more functions and a better lense etc at my disposal. Still love to get a DSLR for full control, but still need to save without being tempted by other fine things that life decides to toss into my path. Anyway, I have a mixmatch of pics on my rather amateur site, but this is my favorite shot from my first proper outing with the new Nikon with me...
tried judt a pic link but it is a window in a website so it didn't work properly so here is the link to the site link, I think.
