    Congratualations! Well done.
Do you have a link to the photo in question?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Yeah - I've bought an x100 a month ago, and I am just amazed by the image quality in general and the sharpness, and by the big difference a little more sharpness makes to an image overall. And I am enjoying it even more since I've read about the "trick" of pressing the shutter in one go rather than wait for the AF confirmation, which seems to work almost always.

Also love the handling - after 1 month, it feels more familiar than my D90 which I've had for years.

I'm finding my D5100 a little disappointing even with primes, the X100 really has spoilt me.

I don't find out until tomorrow when I collect the prints, but it's one of the three on this blog post (I hope it's the old boy outside the dodgy club!)

Is your firmware bang up to date by the way?

Yes, thanks - updated it to 1.3 when I got it, that's still the latest, right?

Yes that's the one. I'd recommend a really fast card too, I use Sandisk 95mb/s ones.

Ever wanted a Sony NEX 7 with a Rover body kit on?

Hilarious new Hasselblad makes Leica look sane.

    Ugh!

Makes you wonder exactly what market they're aiming for with a 4000 wooden camera... looks mucho ugly.

If you have slightly less money but you're still a prick, there's the Leica X2 Paul Smith.

I kinda like the Hasselblad design, it's silly and over the top granted.

That Lecia is just horrible though, who on earth thought that lime green and bright orange was a good idea for an overpriced camera? it'd be hard to find colours that make something look more cheap and naff.

I've placed a bid on John Ive's Leica M9. Will take out a morgage on the house for it. Reckon it'll pay off come retirement.

As a bonus I'll get to meet Bono.

Only lens I've ever missed was the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 which I sold because it wouldn't work on 5D. Now I'm back on crop sensor I've rebought one and can't wait for it to arrive (Nikon version this time of course). Mint used copy for 175 was a good price too. So bloody sharp that lens.

Just got back from a holiday in Marrakech, took some photos, got the squits - the usual holiday fun. Here's an early fav of mine of a street seller in the souk.

Well, typical for me, I bought a new macro lens just at the time when the insects start hiding from the cold weather...

    Just a quick question:

My GF had a studio portrait session the other month & we viewed them at the weekend, one shot was included in the price of the shoot and she bought one extra. No print, they just gave the two shots on disc.

Looking at the second one it's soft across the whole image, looks to me like lens diffraction combined with sensor noise. The exif info says it was shot at 1/160th sec, F20 @ iso 1250, which seems a fairly strange combo.

Just how sharp would you expect a photo to be from a 'professional' shoot?

    F20 & 1250 ISO in a studio?

    You've been had.

They took a few shots outside - this is one of them.

Good point though - haven't checked the studio shot data...

Aren't those types of shots always really soft looking? To disguise people's blemishes and so on. They always look that way when people whack them on Facebook and the like anyway. I think it's an awful technique, but stupid people seem to like it.

They'd applied some blur in post but we got them to email over a version without any processing, which is still soft.

I'm thinking camera shake, made worse by high iso & a bit of diffraction.

Time to deploy angry girlfriend, feeling a bit sorry for them now, arf!

I'm not a portrait kind of photographer but isn't f/20 a bit overkill for this?

It's not all bad though. I've spent most of my life in Bexleyheath and there are some alright places. Dartford has a few nice photogenic bits too, but is now mostly chavvy and sold out. I'm still only using a compact while (seemingly forever) trying to raise enough funds for a nice bit of kit, but have a few shots of surrounding areas (mixed in with some further away stuff).

@Nth Ha, I started looking at those photos and wondered what part of the world it was and thought it looked like something from Stalker. Then I noticed that they were taken in Dartford, some miles along the 96 bus route from me. I live in Welling by the way :)
