    /Cheeky new page bump

    I haven't posted anything in here in a while, but I've taken a few lately, in last week's sunshine that I'm really pleased with.

    Wheat Field at Dusk

    Wheat Field Sunset

    This one would have been completely different, had I not had my camera set up for another shot when the ducks flew over. I was really gutted at the time but having looked at it again, I quite like the way it turned out.

    @superdelphinus
    And if not, get the Tamron 90mm - pretty much the reference affordable macro lens.

    Although if you have an APS-C camera (anything below 5D and 1D ranges) the Tamron 60mm is newer, also highly-thought of, and a stop faster (f2 instead of f2.8). But is only for APS-C cameras.

    Cool, I like these. The one with the ducks especially - their horizontal formation is particularly striking. I'd maybe crop and rotate the image though.

    Hi
    I only just recently sold my Sigma 150mm macro lens. It was very good. My advice would be to probably get a reasonably cheap lens though, as you soon get over the novelty of shooting macro and you're left with an expensive lump of glass.

    If you really take to it, then I'd sell and get a better lens.

    Finally got round to sorting my Opening Ceremony photos. A selection:

    Forging the Rings
    Voldemort
    Sir Chris Hoy
    Sun
    Handing over

    And the full set.

    Some cracking photos there. Were you really close or was it a long lens?

    @cheeky_prawnking

    I was in the second tier of the stadium with a 17-40mm, 50mm and a 70-200mm. I'd have liked longer tbh. Towards the latter end of the ceremony I stood at the bottom of the steps, basically at the lowest part of the upper tier to get the shots of Hoy and Redgrave. It meant I could just about reach!

    @Tomo Was that with full frame or crop sensor? I thought it was longer than 200mm, as I say cracking set of pics.

    That has me more impressed was thinking maybe a crop factor was involved. Really need a decent long prime or zoom.

    A couple of a green parakeet I spotted munching on a pear at the bottom of my garden. Supposed to be up to 20,000 of them wild across the UK and predominately Surrey, London and Berkshire. Seen them a few times but had my camera with me this time.

    I need to get one of our wedding photos blown up and framed with a mount (approx. A2 - not canvas print). What do people currently recommend - seen Loxley Colour recommended in an old thread?
