    10th anniversary, so it's in retro :'(

Nice to see those articles up on the front page, hell, I own most of those games (barring Ikaruga and PSO), and I've played most of the 'cult' classics. Triggerheart Exelica & Ikaruga are available on XBLA but looking through that list there are several I'd *KILL* to get on either main console's DLC services.

Typing of the Dead for 400 points / 3.99 or so? Win, as they say.

    DC Retrospective
    DC Dirty Dozen
    Cult Classics

I would murder bengali for an XBLA port of PSO. Just say the word if you're reading this, Mr. Sega.

I still kind of resent PSO because we didn't get a 'proper' PS game on the DC. Still, I'll happily settle for Skies instead.

    Indeed! \o/

TotD just *screams* XBLA/PSN to me because it's so niche. The sort of thing to get released and flounder because retail units were the only choice available.

I wish the games they'd listed in those articles could be given places in the EG game database, I was wanting to add them but most aren't on there :(

Oh, and I remember I think I save-gamed myself into a corner where I couldn't take anyone else over when playing Nomad Soul, and the save game took up almost an entire memory card :(

Fire Pro Wrestling D and Giant Gram 2000 on the DC are the best wrestling games ever, therefore the DC is GREAT.

    I loved my dreamcast

except for the incredibly shitty CD cases they used which break far too easily, which is a shame as previous sega consoles had awesome sturdy cases for games

Ah yes, the Euro game cases.

I liked them because they were unique.

But if you looked at them the wrong way the hinge would snap. >:(

Buy the Japanese versions instead - they're far funkier.

I loved the Dreamcast - but, Christ, it was a noisy fucker. Sounded like a saw going thro' bone when it accessed the drive.

But it had Shenmue, so all is forgiven. And Crazy Taxi. And Powerstone. And lots of other goodness.

I wasn't expecting to realise that I own(ed) most of them. What a great system, so much better than the PS2!

Why only 8? You could have 10 man matches in FPWD.

Depends where you bought them, and what else they sold which used them.

    Computer faire: 1.50 for two.

Dixons: 5 each. Because they sold PDAs which used them. >:(

hm when I look at Dreamcast and the PS2, the Dreamcast seemed to have less sort- of lengthy games. Not saying it didn't have any(it did- Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia etc) just it seemed more games focused around quick thrills of sorts. Comparing the two therefore, and it's just two different appeals. You got games like GTA series, God of War, Bully etc on the PS2, and you got stuff like Crazy Taxi, Powerstone, Virtua Tennis, a wealth of 2d shooters and fighters on the DC.

Strangely with all the wealth of DC games there are, my favourite title on it is a poorly-rated and seen as naff by anyone else, racer called Speed Devils.

I'd snap up loads of DC games on XBLA, even some of the ones I actually have on the DC (which is still nestled snugly under my telly). I'd like to play Outrigger on a controller with two analogue sticks, for starters.

OK I'm getting a "new" DC thanks to EG's walk down memory lane Hopefully I'll have one in a week. \o/

Also getting a PS2 (I've still got games to finish), guess I don't need the 360 and PS3 anymore :)

I loved it in Skies of Arcadia - you knew a random battle was about to happen before it actually did.

I was inspired to dig out my old Dreamcast (it was sitting under the telly, its cables tangled up in ten years of other consoles and assorted devices) and plug it into the TV in the bedroom while 'er indoors was watching cricket this afternoon. Unfortunately it looks like the tangle has taken its toll on my SCART lead, as I get sound but just a black screen.

After even more digging and scrambling, I found the original RF lead. Which still works. And looks surprisingly good on my little Samsung telly. So I've spent this afternoon playing Soul Calibur, Metropolis Street Racer and Shenmue. Ah, the memories. Soul Calibur especially looks very impressive for its age.

    Ugh!

The retrospective comments thread is packed with Sega vermin in full out "dey hurd our Seeeyygah! Soooo-kneee must dieee!" mode. Not only are all their statements generally 100% lies but they started getting really fucking boring about eight years ago.

I loved my Dreamcast at the time but in retrospect the console wasn't that great. Whilst Sega fans love pointing at early quick and dirty ports like Rez and Dead or Alive 2 for slightly more noticeable aliasing on the PS2 they fail to mention that the PS2 versions of the aforementioned games ran at 60 fps all the time whilst the Dreamcast version dawdled at 30 fps on Rez and 30 fps on Dead or Alive 2 for any detailed scenes.

Why not compare PS2 launch titles with the unbelievably stinky Dreamcast launch titles for a comparison that would actually be fair? Lying, deluded, weasely Sega diehards make me feel like putting a boot heel through the top of the three Dreamcasts I still own.
