It's a cancer at the heart of society. Maybe that's why it is so obsessed with what causes cancer? http://dailymailoncology.tumblr.com/

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

There's a counter site of things the Daily Mail says cure cancer. There are several on both lists.

Not as nice as I used to be

Is it just me or are they trying to ever increase their nonsense rating?

Editor of the Mail writes a piece defending their views. Fails horribly.

The stupid boy should have escaped in a nearby plane, jumped out, parachuted into water, found a passing jetski, jumped off that, dived down using scuba gear to a waiting mini-sub.

If his parents would only have let him play 'inappropriate' games, he could have done all that!

Good old reliable Daily Mail. Big splashy headlines, lots of accusations and scapegoating, a paragraph basically saying "THIS IS THE WAY IT IS" and then a sizeable picture so their readers lose interest, and just underneath that a small sentence that goes "this is not the way it is" as quietly as possible.

I'm hoping that her post is a joke too, otherwise she's had a sense of humour bypass. Unless of course he's got a habit of cheating or something.

On the post, I've said similar things about women, and my missus has said similar things about men and women... don't really see the big deal. You'd have to be MASSIVELY insecure to let something like that get to you.

Here they go, inciting racial hatred again. Sigh.

It basically reads as MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL most of them aren't MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL a few anyway

@convercide Cultural Marxism really is alive and well today isn't it. The article actually states how Muslims themselves are becoming concerned about growing extremist influences.

The article even stressed that the views on Sharia law zones are on the fringe and clearly states that the vast majority of Muslims are moderate.

Is critical thinking and common sense dead now?

@uglybanana It does at the end of the article, yes. However most of it tries to paint an image that this level of extremism is gaining weight in the Muslim community. Also, semiotics.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

  • Deleted user 22 November 2013 03:34:35
@convercide "A recent poll by research organisation ICM of 500 Muslim families revealed that 40 per cent supported the introduction of the strict religious code in Britain. Another, by the right-leaning Policy Exchange, found that more than one-third of young Muslims would be happy to live under Sharia rules."

I'd counter they are asking the questions rather than giving the answers, providing a lot of quotes to give both the extremists and opponents a voice and providing the result of the 2 polls asked of Muslims themselves. Could you conclude it is "gaining weight" if 33-40% responded yes to the question? Does the article stipulate that it is, or does it leave you to mull those statistics and quotes over and come to your own conclusion? I would argue the latter.

Take from it what you will. The hard right get whipped into a frenzy over the article and the DM in general and so do the hard left. Both extremes are repugnant and we have far too much of one of those sides in this country right now. The political pendulum certainly does need centering.

The guy sitting next to me at work just popped a Daily Mail down on his desk.
I was about to crack a sarcy joke about how the immigrants are taking over but before I could open my gob, he came out with:
"See all the Bulgarians and the Romanians? Dog Fighting! That's what they come here for, they're all wanting to start up dog fighting!"

    Totally serious he was too.

Ahhh, cultural marxism. The explain-all. Rather ironic, really.

I find someone's taste in newspaper more telling than their music taste.

I still remember the day my Nan held up her copy of the Mail with the Marajuana fatality as a tool to admonish me for my then admittedly habitual use.

Never one for level headed debate bless her.

Quite right, kids these days have it so easy, with their namby pamby PC PE, where the risk of death is practically zero. National Service, with real bullets, that's what they need!
