I think I've just got Tales of Graces F on preorder (again using Amazon vouchers gleaned from filling in endless surveys) but that's a special case as it's my favourite gaming series. :D

I did have Zero Escape on prepaid preorder but obviously that didn't work out!

@Afiddes Digital sales are evil. ;)

Glad to see some of my fellow EG'ers are making progress :)

While I've totally blown my 100 max budget out of the water, most of my spending has been on Vita games which I'm doing really well to work through - only got MGS3 unplayed, but I do need to spend more time in Everybody's Golf and the WipEout 2048 HD + Fury DLC

On the big box, my main improvement is not being suckered into impulse bargains, but as my PS3 playing is so limited, progress through my backlog is extremely slow...

Only Pre-order is the super-duper Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest edition, but then that's 100 by itself ^_^

After quite a few months I broke mine, getting RDR, Fallout 3 and Yakuza 4. Oh, and the Walking Dead. Crap :-(

Will it be your first time playing Fallout3, if so you are in for a wonderful couple of hundred hours. The game is stunning. I played, still play on 360 and it is always in my top 3 games of all time...and I have played a lot of games over nearly 30 years of gaming.
    Have fun.

    @DUFFMAN5

Yeah, first time. I did play through the opening once on PC (actually just testing how it worked in Linux) up to the point of getting out of the vault, but that's about it. It'll be on PS3 this time. I really prefer the couch to the desk.

Unfortunately, none of the games arrived before the weekend.

Heh, looking forward to it! :-) There are some games I wish I could unplay, so I could experience them for the first time again. Off the top of my head, that'll be RE4 and the first two Fallouts.

    You enjoy it.
Its one of the few games that I would encourage you to get the guidebook for as it is vast and there's loads that you could just wander past without seeing.

Also, on behalf of a couple of EGers... They'd just like to remind you that your PipBoy has a torch. I repeat, there is a torch on the PipBoy, there's no need to turn the brightness up on your monitor :)

I'm actually pretty please with how I'm doing... OK, so my 100 budget for 2012 has been blown out of the water, but my spending has vastly improved.

I'm still buying lots for the Vita, but my backlog is pretty small and I've held off going crazy with buying PSP titles in the PSN sale. I can see myself buying another 4-5 Vita games between now and the end of the year, but I should clear all of them...

On the PS3, I've not bought anything new for quite a few months and actually only intend to buy stuff I'll play straight away (i.e. Borderlands 2). Otherwise, with my recent investment in PS+, there's a chance they'll appear for me to download for 'free'

I've also been critically looking at my backlog and decided to sell off a few games which I'll realistically never get to play.

The key habit which I appear to have kicked it the impluse buy when I see something cheap

    Progress...

I'm getting worse with "Bargain buys" but have been good with new releases.... Cut down considerably, Halo 4s the only game I know I'll def be getting on release...

Backlog of games on all.platforms just getting bigger and bigger... Especially now I picked up a move for my ps3, LOL. Still got sealed games I bought at Xmas last year even, its crazy...
I really need to make a proper effort to not buy anything...

Looking at the schedule for the rest of the year I'm going to find it very easy to resist buying new games.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

I'm bracing myself. I've done well in 2012, but it was this time last year when I absolutely collapsed.

...If I don't plan on playing it straight away, I will not buy it....

My backlog is the biggest its been for a while now.

Skyward sword - only just started it
Gemini rue - near the end but getting bored now.
Iron brigade - about half way through, but only playing it co op
Trine 2 - played a couple of hours, but only playing it co op
operation flashpoint - co op only
Spelunky - will never complete this but only played for about an hour
Magic 2013 - not touched it yet
pinball fx2 tables- only played the new ones a bit
Humble indie bundle adventure games- tried a few but didn't really enjoy them.
Chrono trigger - not sure I will ever complete this. Played for about 7 hours
Mw3- need to finish the spec ops

Quite a few of these games I got for free from friends/ play xbla competitions. My main issue is I prefer to play minecraft, trials or bc2...
I've done quite well with my backlog:

Skyward sword - gave up on it
Gemini rue - gave up on it as I lost my save when my laptop crashed.
    Iron brigade - finished it
Trine 2 - abandoned as it was rubbish
operation flashpoint - no further with it
    Spelunky - abandoned
Magic 2013 - still not touched it yet
pinball fx2 tables- played the new tables a bit more
Humble indie bundle adventure games- given up on these.
Chrono trigger - completed it. Can't believe it took me so long to get into!
    Mw3- completed

Nothing really tempts me on the 360 bit I've bought a psp recently. Ff7, grandia, ff tactics and valkryria chronicles 2 are now on my to play list...

Not bought much new stuff save Vita titles (enjoying MGS3, with LBP Vita waiting) and Borderlands 2 - which I'm currently playing.

    After taking out a PS+ subscription I've not bought a single PS3 game :)

I've also been making some progress on the backlog. Batman AA, NFS Hot Pursuit, Stacking and Trine 2 all finished, and I'm nearly done with Prince of Persia.

Borderlands 2 should keep me busy for a while :)

    PS3 backlog is:
    NFS Shift 2
    Dirt 3
    God of War Collection Vol.2
    Dark Souls
    Killzone 2
    Assassins Creed 2
    Infamous
    De Blob 2
The Orange Box (already completed Portal though)
    MGS4
    Heavenly Sword
    Sly 3

I've also accumulated all of the 'free' games from PS+

Fortunately aside from LBP, I have no backlog on the Vita :)

So in terms of boxed games I've only got Sleeping Dogs, Binary Domain and Borderlands 2 to play - all bought after clearing my original backlog.

However, I think next year I need to do a dedicated Vita equivalent :-)

I'm fortunate that I get to play for 1-1/2 a day on the Vita hence my modest backlog. Unfortunaly my PS3 playtime is considerably less :/

I have bought way too many games this year, no hopr of starting 70% of them.
I have Dishonored,ACIII and FC3 on paid for pre order (shopto)I will also pick up lego LotR and Doom 3.

I MUST and WILL start getting more games from lovefilm next year...although I have a couple of games on pre order ;)

I agree. Renting saves me nothing as I only rent games I wouldn't have bought anyway, and rarely enjoy them

I agree 100% and love owning the actual disc, but this is just folly. I may (and I mean may) look at the 2 page booklet once and then it is in the man drawer. I do think that RPG's are best to own, one only need look at Xenblade booklet for that ;)

I very rarely keep a game, as I even more rarely revisit a game. I always think I will, but I don't.

I do like trading on here, we have such a good crowd of lads/ladies that are not greedy so you can always have a deal, and because of this I never regret buying games. case in point I sold Skyrim to Rob on here today. I have owned the game 4 times and NEVER played it...

I'm sure I will do a mixture of rentals and purchases, as I said I already have a few on order for next year.

Long live the self-imposed thread I say

XBLA - Spelunky, Mark of the Ninja
360 - Dishonored, XCOM, Binary Domain, Borderlands 2, Darksiders 2
Vita - LBP, New Little Kings Story

Add to that Sleeping Dogs but I've already finished that (it's funded XCOM).

    Best get cracking!
