NTFS has security permission issues that aren't present in FAT32 (which is completely insecure and allows anyone to do anything to the file structure), the 360 is never likely to ever be made to read NTFS because of that.

    This space left intentionally blank.

Has anyone been using a network hard drive with media sharing? I've been using a Iomega Home Network Hard Drive and it shares pictures fine but if there's anything more then a handful of files in the music drive then the 360 can't read it. It's weird.

Also, it's not recommended that the 360 will recognise the drive itself anyway; I have a Western Digital MyBook with one partition formatted to FAT32 and my PS3 reads it fine (I've used it for backups when formatting) but neither of my 360s will see it at all.
I have a 500GB My Book and the 360 works okay with it. Of course, there are about a hundred different models of the things, so it may be that some work and some don't.

It's worth noting though that the 360 will only recognise a partition on an external drive if it's a primary partition -- it won't recognise a logical one at all.

I had that problem initially when I stuck my old 60GB PS3 drive in a caddy and tried it out. Formatted it again with that in mind and it showed up no problems.

I use MacDrive for the PC to format drives to HFS+.

True, but it's also irrelevant, as 360s won't go anywhere but private networks, and you don't have a shell to allow one to make "mistakes".
