Yeah this is a shame. Pretty much fucks any slim title chances this year. Kimi can't get in that Red Bull quick enough.

Pocket change compared to his Ferrari days. About 4-5 million last year I remember reading.

His salary was fairly low, but he actually got about 18m because of a rather poorly thought out bonus structure last year.

Those dipshits should never have been allowed to take the Lotus name off Caterham.

EJ claiming that Kimi is on his way to Ferari. I know he's an idiot, but his track record suggests it's not a claim that should be instantly dissmissed.

I think that's quite likely, to be honest. More so than staying put at Lotus again. Would be great to see Kimi and Alonso in equally matched cars.

Still think it's a shame that he's not going to Red Bull. =/

It's a shame. Raikkonen would have shown Vettel up though so Ricciardo is the safe bet.

Will be a hilarious situation if he goes back to Ferrari, they will effectively be admitting they made a huge mistake in letting him go. Personally I'm a bit concerned about the move. He'll be moving back into the same web of bullshit politics and idiocy that made him leave the sport in the first place.

Dunno, Red Bull seem to be as much about team orders and bonkers engine management codes, so Mr 'fuck off and let me drive' might not suit it there either.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

This is what I`m wondering. Alonso to......where?...McLaren? Not many options open to him really if he doesn't stay in Ferrari.

Vettel and Raikonnen to Ferrari season after next? Alonso to RBR?

I can see Alonso and Raikkonen at Ferrari next year if Alonso is set to leave for Red Bull after next year. They'll want a fast driver and it's worth snapping up Raikkonen while he's available.

Personally i'd love to see Raikkonen in a Mclaren again, but i'm sure that's the last place he'd want to be, much like Alonso.

Kimi back at Ferrari seems a bit backwards considering why they pushed him out in the first place. Although they did practically bankroll his WRC excursion so maybe he still sees them in a good light?

Never know, he might choose to race for free with Sauber just because all the contract talks have got on his nerves...

I don't see Kimi at Ferrari. I don't see anyone benefiting from that.

Then again, it's F1 and money is the boss.

    Adding fuel to the rumour...

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109367

Supposedly he was at a party the night before where he let slip that he'd signed, with a rumoured "11million euros plus bonuses and sponsorship to his motocross team".

    Odd, I don't see a paywall.

Unwell Kimi Raikkonen absent on Thursday of F1 Belgian GP

Kimi Raikkonen may be at the centre of the Formula 1 media spotlight right now, but he will be a notable absentee at Spa on Thursday because he is unwell.

The Finn, whose future has been the subject of intense speculation over the past few days, will not return to F1 duties with Lotus until Friday at Spa.

Raikkonen had been due to speak at his regular Thursday media briefing, where journalists were expected to get his side of the story about why Red Bull decided not to take him and what he hoped to do in 2014.

Instead, a note from his Lotus team said of Raikkonen: "Thursday media call cancelled due to illness - he will be here tomorrow Friday."

Although there was no official word from Lotus about the exact nature of Raikkonen's illness, his absence does have the benefit of meaning he will now not face a barrage of media questions about his future.

Raikkonen's manager Steve Robertson told AUTOSPORT on Wednesday that his driver would be staying at Lotus in 2014 if the team could provide him with the financial and technical guarantees he is after.

"Lotus holds the key to Raikkonen's future," Robertson said.

"If the team can provide him with the answers he is seeking, which will ensure he has a car that can fight for race wins and the championship, then he will stay."

I think the Autosport paywall comes in after a certain number of views a day. I still subscribe to their RSS feed, but click through to far fewer articles any more. You can get the gist out of some of the headlines at least.

Well, you had Hamilton / Mercedes walking away with it last race (with more of a margin than any Red Bull win this season)... so it doesn't seem particularly likely.

Hopefully I'll eat my words but I think it's too little too late.
