Stowe, definitely. Stowe C is the cheapest - was told 204 for a weekend ticket (discounted early rate) by the staff at the ticket stall. It's uncovered, which only becomes an issue if it rains on Sunday. You get a roving pass to most other grandstands for Friday and Saturday which is a great opportunity to check out candidates for the next year's seats!

From there you see overtaking at the end of Hangar straight, the blistering cornering at Stowe, the entry into the Vale chicane and the pit entry. You get. Reasonable picture of what's going on.

Regarding parking this year I did the Silverstone schools for the first time. 20 for Sat and Sun with a 20/30min walk to the track and the quick exit on to the A5 was ideal for me. Also good to know that the money is going to a good cause.

It all depends where you're based really.

Probably best just to know the stands to avoid IMO that would be Vale and the National Pits Straight. Vale is overpriced, uncovered and never seems to sell out. When I was in the F1 village today they were giving away Vale tickets free to people with general admission.

We were thinking about going Club Silverstone hospitality next year. Looks a bit crap, though. You sit in Becketts (which is good, but no better than Becketts ticket) and the suite doesn't free food or drink and looked rammed.

Anyone got any experience with that?

Top tips, cheers chaps. Might see if I can get a couple, too.

Yeah, thanks. Guess I'll have a look at Stowe. Else, anything but Vale and National.

Luffield is good to get a closer look at the cars or if you want photos. Seems to have turned into a good overtaking spot at the entrance too - at the end of the Wellington straight. There's an uncovered stand there.

I did Stowe in 2011 and recommend it as well. Really good spot apart from the lack of rain cover. Plenty of action with overtakes at the corner and you can see the entry to vale. You' ve also got the pit entry right in front of you which helps got some idea of what's going on.

Was anyone else giggling when Red Arrows did the "entering the V" formation? That can't have been by accident!

The best option I could see for hospitality was the six corners thing. Can't remember the exact name though. Silverstone Six?

    Ahh, yes: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/Templates/Public/Pages/Corporate/SectionItem.aspx?id=30011&epslanguage=en&tab=the-venues&venue=Silverstone-Six&jse=0

Not too bad, tho I'm never going to pay that.

What are the hostesses exactly doing to ensure my day is smooth? And can the GF partake?

    400? Really?

    Edit:
Yeah I think you may be thinking of Club Silverstone. Silverstone Six was 1200 for Sat and Sun.

Tell a lie, that was just for Saturday.

    1100 for Sunday.

Even so, at the time it seemed to be a much better deal than the other hospitality options, at least in terms of watching as much of the race as possible. The drivers lounge seemed like a massive ripoff, but I guess that was aimed at the fame whores (you have some vague chance of seeing a driver).

Does a weekend ticket come with camping, or that something separate?

I've never camped but I have a feeling that costs extra on top. They also charge for the park and ride now as well.

Separate. They vary wildly in price. Don't do camping myself, but I understand you get what you paid for. Some of the farms around the area have some horrible shower/toilet facilities.

Nice to make a food stop on my way home and find out everyone else has been home for hours. Haven't stopped since about 16:30 and still two hours to go. I suppose I would go a bit quicker if I wasn't trying to save fuel.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

Are you on a one stop or two stop strategy?

    @Rusty_M

If the car has Pirelli's on it, nip into Kwikfit just to be on the safe side.

Cheers for the advice, I'll look into tomorrow. I've watched and enjoyed nearly every gp for the last 20 year's but never actually been to one. Like the idea of camping with other fans, have to do some more research.

    BBC pit lane reporter:

"I don't know what the FIA deem as an unsafe release"

Bang on reporting mate, keep it up.

Also, Alonso and Hamilton were immense at the end, another great race by di Resta.

I've read that this place has been updated for this year - decent showers and bogs.
