He did, according to one of the interviews from a driver behind him.

Punctured the unprotected barrier behind which was a tree.

Just heard about the Aston Martin driver dying. Fuck. =/

I was just telling my nephew how much safer the cars are these days. :(

They are a lot safer. These days it seems as common to hear of a footballer dying on the pitch. Unfortunately, very few activities are perfectly safe.

    A very sad incident indeed.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

Another big crash. The car is very smashed up.

Driver's alright though. Most of the back end of the car is missing.

Yeah fortunately that car did what a modern race car is supposed to do and disintegrated

I'll be going. Got a weekend General Admission ticket. It's my first time too so really looking forward to it.

The other Aston has just had a similar shunt :-/. Driver fine though thankfully. What a horrendous weekend for them

Awesome. I'll be there again this year, sitting at Stowe again. It's like Glastonbury but with better sounds ;-)

    Ooh some hard rain

Given this is a video game site - this is exactly why every proper racing game should have weather in it!

Slick fix for Toyota. I can't help but feel they've missed their best chance for a win this year given that Porsche are inevitably going to be incredibly strong in '14.

Going for the first time this year. Will be in the Becketts grandstand. Not sure I'm looking forward to the 6 hour drive each way though. (and that's without traffic).

Staying in a Travelodge in Coventry on Saturday to break up the journey and so I don't have to leave here around midnight.

Edit: I've heard this is stupidly loud. Should I be buying earplugs?

I've been to a few GPs and never felt the need for earplugs. Besides, being able to hear them from the far side of the track getting closer is a lot of the fun.

It is just about doable without ear plugs. I wouldn't recommend it, though. It is loud enough to do damage over the length of time I reckon. And the first lap is not recommended without plugs.

Cant get over the Allan Simonson crash, it looked survivable, a heavy stop but with the safety kit they have you'd think it'd take the brunt of the force out of the crash. A few tyres on their and he'd probably have walked away.

Liveleak has a couple of angles, the first video shows it's a big side-on smack into the wall on what I'd guess would be drivers-side.

Still doesn't look that bad in terms of the impact. Rogue metalwork is most likely the culprit in this case.

Extremely sad, especially in this day and age.

The thing is though, if it doesn't 'look' bad then where did all the energy go? The crash was high speed, so there's no doubt there was a high energy impact there - in other cars there would be bits flying around all over the place by design after a crash like that and would look worse but paradoxically be better. If you see what I mean

Just had Sebastian Vettel at our work today. Old boy who sits next to me says, "all this fuss for a German dwarf". LOL, nice.

I work in R&D for a vehicle manufacturer near MK that's kinda related to Red Bull Racing. Hint: it's not Renault.

Confirmed: Webber to Porsche next year. Hopefully Kimi will replace him and kick Vettel's arse ;)
