ha, Jonny Cecotto again! Did you see him in the last race as well, and the race before that sideswiping Sam Bird in qualifying.

Yeah, he's done some ridiculous things. This wasn't anything like those incidents. Crashed all by himself, that happens. Don't think he deserves a pen.

Problem with GP2 is the drivers never know when to cut their losses. So many avoidable accidents.

Thought that Abt move was very clever, didn't deserve a pen.

Little bit of rain for qualifying by the looks of it. :D

That and Ferrari struggling to get the corners on Massa's car reattached in time for session.

@BillMurray Yep, Sky only unfortunately - highlights at 17:35 on BBC1 though.

BBC didn't even get Monaco this year? I know it's a dull race, but it's THE F1 race of the season.

Nope. We get the next two after this on free TV - Canada and Britain, then two on Sky only (Germany and Hungary), then two on the BBC (Belgium and Italy), then two on Sky (Singapore and Korea). Basically it's two on two off for the rest of the season. Not sure I'm a big fan of this bitty schedule, but at least the highlights are better this year.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Mercedes will disappear yet again after the pit stops. Pointless pair of roadblocks. I do like how Rosberg has massively got Hamilton's number though. Shows what a great job Schumacher was doing in quali last year too.

Bit late but that looks like a typical online start to a forza race. Someone should tell those drivers that their gp2 cars are not unbreakable like online....

    Very poor.

I don't think they could do anything with Ferrari's chassis let alone yet another engine change. BMW, Cosworth, Renault and now Merc in the space of how many seasons? I'm not sure if it's just fishing for the best deal or just desperately trying everything.

Well the Merc is regarded as being probably the best engine at the moment and has been for several years.
In 2015 of course they all start afresh.

Cracking quali session, although the end result is pretty much as expected. A shame De Resta missed out but it'd be great to see him come up though the order a bit (along with Massa).

I predict that the 2 Mercedes cars will just about stay in front until the first pit-stops and then get undercut by the rest of the field. I wonder if anyone'll risk a super early pit stop?

Joe Saward is saying that Ferrari did a similar test after Bahrain.

He's also having a bit of a hissy fit in the comments section which is fun, apparently even though Ferrari used a 2010 car it's comparable to the Merc test because the FIA said so, in his opinion.

Ah, that'll explain it then as I don't often read his blog.

I'm still baffled to how the FIA thought it was a good idea to let anyone use a 2013 car with current tyres in a private test. Regardless of them not knowing exactly which rubber they were testing or not the engineers were always going to figure it out and gain even a small advantage.

Well the teams only have themselves to blame for not agreeing on a test car. The previous one was a Renault , then lotus turn up with a car kind on its tyres... They couldn't agree on the colour red

Listening to Ross Brawn, it sounds very much like they've got everything in order. RB moaning about tyres, then not getting chosen to do the test, they throw a hissy fit.

I can see why they chose Mercedes. They need a car that's hard-wearing. And can you imagine the shitstorm if they got Red Bull to do it?!

Brawn also said that they were 2014 tyres anyway. Storm in a tea cup.
