I would have thought more down force would be better on the tyres.

I'm not a fan of changing something as fundamental as the tyres in the middle of a season. Personally I'm really enjoying F1 currently, the tyres have been a revelation.

I'm shocked to announce that the boss of Red Bull is not happy. Yawn.

He's right about qualifying being pretty much meaningless though. I'd rather do an Alonso and get myself into the top 10 with a race winning car than be like either of the Mercedes.

I expect his idea of 'real car racing' was what happened in 2011.

Well, Pirelli going back the other way in time for the British Grand Prix will give Red Bull the 'correct' results.

It's not the tyres themselves that are damaging F1 as a sport, it's the chopping and changing to suit the whims of Bernie or the top team owners or whoever. Chewing gum tyres are fine if they stick with them for the whole season.

How must it be for the little teams trying to get off the bottom? Especially with Bernie's great idea of having the last placed team get nothing. I'm pretty sure Bernie views the small teams as potential targets for big money groups (Ford, VWG, whoever) rather than as valuable entities in their own right.

@Kid_Icarus I think we can agree then that last years was the ideal compromise, and that this years have maybe gone too far.

One of the fastest yes, but it was implied that they were the fastest but held back by tyres. Everyone has the same tyres so if you don't have the race pace that's because they haven't utilised them as well.

@Bremenacht I never got that argument from Bernie. One of the flaws with f1 for many years was the lack of teams. We should be encouraging more teams and sponsors to come forward. A US based team would be valuable given there may be two races there next year.

I'm pretty sure Bernie just wants big-money teams, rather than the little ones there now. More money for FOM and more money for the top teams.

Brundle made a good point yesterday that the teams really aren't interested in the sport as a whole just their ability to win. This is why they shouldn't have any say in potential rule changes.

Fully agree with this, when your slow, you moan. RBR weren't too bothered about the tyres in Bahrain.

I'm not particularly fond of the current tyre situation, I particularly hate the fact that they are told to drive to 'target lap times', but as long as it's the same for everyone, I can live with it. Watching them tip toe round for 66 laps got a bit dull yesterday.

I do wish Red Bull would stop the constant moaning.
If they don't like it then they can take their poisonous, disgusting fizzy pop and sod off.

Which is interesting given that all teams voted against a point for pole. Including RB.

That's something I think should be added. Maybe even 2 points if qualifying is having such little impact on the race.

Clearly the tire situation is getting out of control. I've never heard so much team radio going on about the tires. To me F1 is about watching the fastest cars and fastest drivers going fast and ringing out as much performance from the car as possible. We're not getting that at the moment and for me personally it's frustrating to watch.

Remember that the team radio is only what the teams and the race director want you to hear.

Yeah of course but it was clear just watching the race something was wrong. By the way what the fuck is wrong with the Mercedes? It's just crazy how bad it is on tire wear. O_o

It appears to have been designed for one lap pace, rather than sustained pace. As Lewis said yesterday, when asked to drive it slower, 'I can't drive it any slower'. While I'm sure he could have gone a bit slower and he was just being grumpy, there does become a time when you can't drive a F1 car much slower as it becomes really fecking difficult to drive at that speed, and bad for the car.

I don't mind KERS, DRS or any of that. I think it has pros and cons. And I do like the more constant changing of positions. But these tyres can fuck right off.

Pirelli getting right stroppy, aren't they!

I can see their point, but surely even they have to concede that it's gone too far.

Offering the teams more tyre choices per race could be good. As long as those tyres were the same at every race. Chewing gum, rubber, or Flintstone seems a decent choice. Keep the 'use two types' rule.

I had chosen Alonso to win on Friday (swapped him with Vettel so not much more points, but would have been another 15). Looks like I hadn't saved it. Fuck it.

I forgot you had to save it to be honest. I thought it was just drag and drop and it saved there and then. Balls. Not a biggie, but balls anyway.

That's not actually true, they complained about them after winning too.

Tyres being changed for Canada. Seems Pirelli don't much like 4 stop races.

Gamesmanship is so ingrained in F1 that there is no such thing as a hollow victory.
