Everyone else will go completely mental if he wins by 7 points in the end, no matter what him and his fans think!

I find it really interesting how the media and the F1 rules contort our opinions of what actually happens in the sport.

Few years ago we were debating team orders and whether it was 'right' that Alonso was allowed to pass Massa.

Now we're going batshit over the fact a driver chose to ignore them and out race his team-mate.

    No?

It's always just an outpouring of what the general consensus opinion of a driver is rather than the actual event. Mostly anyway

I think the worst thing Vettel did was how he said "Get him out of the way" in such a contemptuous way. Petulant little shit deserves driving a shitbox for a couple of years, he might learn something.

@urban there's a fair difference between an order to hold places to avoid a collision and an order to move aside for someone.

I think it just shows vettel has the ruthless need to win.

Good on him - will anyone remember Webber in 10 years time? ;)

I like Kimi's rants. In his scandinavian accent, no pauses and general 'couldn't care less' attitude you can end his sentences with something much more evil.

He didn't go straight into a race winning car. He spent a year at Sauber (1.5 technically if you include the test driver stuff) and then 2 years in the god-awful Torro Rosso car before getting his hands on a the monstrous (but not fully reliable) RB5.

In case anyone wants to suggest that the Torro Rosso was particularly competitive... here's Vettel's races in the 2 / 2B: 16th, 19th, 18th, Retired, Retired, 4th (rain), Retired, Retired, Retired, Retired, Retired, 17th.

The 3 was better, but still probably only equivalent to last year's Merc or Sauber in competitive terms.

I agree with your "petulant little shit" comment. He has been a whining little cunt when things don't go his own way, moreso after his first title.

But be fair, he has had his share of dogs in his career.

Aye. Those laying into him just don't like him. Some I dare say because of his nationality. Seen all kinds of German digs on the net (not neccessarily here) about him, though they conveniently forget that a German did obey orders on Sunday when he really should have been allowed to pass a Brit. But hey, whatever fits with their racist views.

It was a bit of a wanker thing to do, but it's hardly new. Every single one of the successful drivers has it in him to do that. Many have done far worse before.

In sport, sucess rarely makes popular (Man Utd, Schumi, Aussie cricket team), even Alonso has turned public opinion by being plucky underdog over the past few years. Conversely Webber is a fans favourite. Had Webber robbed Seb, the reaction around the world would he totally different. He'd also probably get insta sacked and become a cult hero in many peoples eyes.

Instead we're in a situation where Hamilton was mature, respectful and behaved exactly in the right way in a bad situation. There must be some fizzing heads ready to explode in frustration at that.

His teammate was told not to overtake him and he got third. Of course he is "mature" about it.

They are all children when things don't go their way. That's why they are at the level they are.

You know, the fact that he was so wound up about it makes it all worth while. :) He's just jealous that he has never been good enough to take advantage of such a situation, as he has tried to in the past.

Ironically I've lost a bit of respect for Webber out of all of this.

It is moderately amusing that when he chose to ignore team orders he couldn't manage to get past... and that was with Vettel on fucked tyres too.

    Sad isn't it.

There was even more after that when Webber nearly got Vettel on the first corner.
