I read somewhere it costs around 600 in total, including HD. Maybe more. Perhaps someone could verify that?

I remember reading that the BBC may pull out of F1 altogether after this (2013) season, as they struggle to fit into their frozen budget. I bet I read it in a Murdoch rag.

It's obviously going to happen sooner rather than later. The whole thing looks like some sort of 'phased withdrawal'.

@Bremenacht - It is actually rising to 510 for the season as of April

I'm actually sort of tempted to do the 9.99 for the odd race that I absolutely have to watch live. I'm a bit of a mug.

If F1/Sky are labouring under the idea that I will always watch the sport regardless of where it is shown, they are very wrong.

I've dumped football, cricket and the Sky only F1 in the past. Dumping the rest of F1 will be very easy. Just like football, and Rugby League, Sky will MAKE F1 dance to its tune.
Sky will then just keep putting the price up, you'll be paying £850 a season before the decade is over.

    Edit: Bloody tablet autospell

I was astonished to hear that even Italy has gone the pay TV route for F1 (Free TV only has a handful of the races, just like us in the UK). I'm amazed... I'd have expected riots.

Depends. I already had sky, basic package + documentaries + one other I think. Also line rental and unlimited b/band. I only pay an extra tenner a month to unlock all the hd/3d channels (subject to my subscription) so it doesn't bother me greatly. If you already have sky sports then you get the f1, but I'm not into footie etc so don't have that package. At the moment you get hd half price for 6 months I think if you haven't signed up to it already.

Also, included ion sky F1 HD is all the testing, practice and qualifying live. Also shows GP1, GP2 and Porsche cup as well as other good programmes. A lot of stuff is repeated so you never really miss anything.

Currently the HD service gets you F1, though that's looking like changing soon. The absolute cheapest you can get it right now is 350 a year.

Edit - That's assuming you don't have Sky already of course.

Fuck that! I don't have Sky and never want it. will stick with the BBC with highlights and the odd few live races.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I already had the basic Sky package (17.99 a month last time i checked the price) so the extra 9.99 for HD game me the F1 (plus other hd channels).

So around 340 quid a year ish i think, although that may have gone up slightly?

I never watch telly, the Sky is just for Mrs Mekanik anyways, the HD and F1 was purely for myself and i justified it after dropping stupid sky movies. Which She now wants back......

Thinking of upgrading to Sky Sports this year regardless of whether it's required for F1 or not, to be honest. Plenty of sports I feel like I'm missing out on.

Should be able to get a princely sum back from TCB too. Managed to get 100 back from a 7.50 per month broadband subscription which was free for 6 months! Sky are pretty generous when it comes to that side of things.

Edit: ok, only 20. Still...better than naught.

Unless he's in a sulk, in which case he might write something good or post some Mercedes blueprints or something.

I've gone down the 'motorised dish and a VU+ box' route to see F1 this year.

Virgin TV and by extension Sky can do one AFAIC.

Things are looking pretty grim for McLaren at the end of the season. No Vodafone, no Lowe, no longer the defacto works team for the new Merc engines...

Transition phase. I'd expect them to be Telmex McLaren Honda by the start of 2015. Their biggest issue is never quite winning a bloody title.

As an employee of one of those two companies, this makes me very sad. Although when we stopped sponsorship of Ferrari there was a massive bargain sale of all the left-over merchandise, so fingers crossed for that.
