Wait, what!? So Sky F1 was free last year for any Sky Subscribers, regardless of whether they had sports or not?

Please don't tell me that was the case. Please.

    ok, not so bad, maybe....

Existing Sky customers who receive the F1 channel through the HD pack will continue to do so after the move. According to Sky, 4.5 million subscribers have the HD pack

Ah, I didn't. Thank feck for that! :o)

If I'd missed the races for a season for no reason I'd have kicked myself.

Wonder what percentage of Sky subscribers have the sports package?

Can't imagine the teams being very happy if their sponsor exposure takes another nose dive.

In an effort to cheer folk up, here's 14 minutes of a Ferrari getting ragged around COTA last week. It's also the first video where I got a real feel for just how much of a climb it is to turn 1.

On a side note - it makes me wish they had GoPro cameras in the 60s and 70s. The footage would have been insane.

Doesn't really change the fact that it's a shit move for everyone else... and you pretty much know it's a matter of time before that changes too.

I guess I'm more angry than most because I was considering a switch and have absolutely no interest in paying for sports channels I wont watch.

oh absolutely, total dick move - however inevitable.

My second link was an apparent claim that there are no plans to withdraw the F1 from the HD package but that's not really worth wasting breath on as it could change at any time.

would not be surprised ot see them tease it over piecemeal

Something's got to pay the football bill, which means you'll pay by hook or by crook.

BBC will have Suzi Perry. I like her.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Put 5 on Lewis to win in Melbourne at 16:1. It's dropping by the day, now 7:1 :-S

Besides which you have always had to buy the Sky Sports package to get SSF1 on Virgin, so you're not much better off. Plus that VM user interface is horrible!

It's very simple really. Don't give any more money to the evil Murdoch's.
    Just press 1. :)

Yeah I have sky sports anyway. Just annoying that f1 isn't in hd - seems childish.

Hamilton was close to 40-1pre testing, now down to 8-1 in some places. Lot of hype I suspect

Yeah, I'm on Tivo too. Have two boxes.

Plus of course, 120mb internet connection. :D

Ahh - was thinking about getting another box for the 'shed'. What's the extra cost. Worth it?

Yeah I've considered the TiVo argument for swapping to VM. But whenever I see that advert, I think "Yes, Tennant, but I can count on 2 hands the number of times in my 5+ years with Sky when there was more than 2 things on that I wanted to watch at the same time, and next to no times when at least one of them wasn't on a +1 channel".

I ignore the people at the top, to be honest, and am happy with the product (at the moment). I'm really looking forward to the "shared planner" feature coming to multiroom this year.

Worth it? Don't know really, it was for me because my missus loves to watch all sorts of shit that I'd rather not have taking over my TV..

As for watching more than 2 things, that's not really the advantage of Tivo. Tivo's main advantage is guessing what you like watching and recording it automatically. I've found all sorts of good stuff that way, and I don't even watch a lot of TV... I'm guessing it's fantastic for those that do.

I can get F1 in HD 100% of the time... just not live. =/

What a sad fucking situation. I really wouldn't be surprised if F1 headed the way of WRC in the UK. Last year's sky viewing figures were appalling.
