Perez is effectively tied into ferrari though, his was a part of there driver academy, its not as big as risk as it looks. Its similar to massa situation quite a few seasons back.

Personally i think Ham will stay at Mclaren. Results, and form can easily be turned around. for the last 2 years, ferrari have had bigger problems than ferrari, only 7 odd races or so ago, ferrari were looking like a midfield team. Whitmarsh, will have people higher up to answer too, theres been too many fundamental mistakes at mclaren in the last few years.

I expect Ferrari still have options on Webber and Perez and will see if Perez has proven himself enough come '14 and if not they'll take on Webber.

Yet they haven't. If this season turns into another fruitless one that will 4 out of 6 years they haven't given him a car capable of winning the championship in. He's pretty much half way through his career now with one wdc to show for it, which is probably fewer than most would have expected at this stage. They don't seem like getting it right anytime soon either - in danger of becoming the perennial next best team.

I think ecclestone should pay Ferrari whatever it takes to get Hamilton in with alonso! Can you imagine

I expect a fair amount of it is curernt form with Webber. He's ahead of VET, it's almost halfway through the season and he knows that he needs the team onboard for what's looking like his best ever shot at the WDC.

I would be amazed if there were not any performance / get out clauses in there still.

Webber winning the WDC would be something else! Guy deserves it.

If he can get wins or podiums at the tracks he doesn't always do well at, as well as the ones he does, he certainly has a good shot.

the other thing of note in the last race at least was that he didn't fluff the start, typically one of his weak points.

It's amazing how McLaren can so consistently be there or thereabouts but rarely quite managing a title.

Seems that at the weekend, BBC4 showed an interesting documentary about Gordon Murray. Just watched it, very good. Covers lots of F1 stuff including the Brabham fan car, the MP24 and Murray's road cars; the Rocket, the Macca F1 and his new one.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Having read that Lewis was hanging out with music types to the early hours, and talk of him rapping, which sounds so cringe worthy (we shouldn’t judge before we hear), how long before Lewis develops a drug habit, and wonders where his F1 career disappeared to ?

    From lapper to rapper
    for Lewis Hamilton

The accent is awful too. I viewed Lewis as a driver who would win multiple World Championships. I'm doubting all of that now. He isn't getting any younger, and there's too much talent on the grid. It really does look like fame and money are getting the better of him, and he is turning into image over ability.

Either that or the fact he hasn't had a car capable of winning the championship since 2008....

I think he's had a capable car, Red Bull and Ferrari are hardly invincible this year and it's arguable that McLaren have had the better car than Ferrari have had over the past years yet not seemed to be able to do as much. Not sure it would be the right move to leave McLaren though, they are always there or there abouts.

I agree re this year up until a couple of races ago, but I hardly think its his fault that he's not still at the top. Maybe 10 points or so you could argue, if you were being harsh about Valencia. Neither of the Ferrari drivers have won a championship either in the same period that Hamilton has been in the sport, so that point is sort of moot.

Never really understood why there is a particular level of dislike reserved for Hamilton, particularly on the Internet.

So he likes hanging out with people that have the same interests as him, so what? all the other drivers enjoy going out to nightclubs....or have interests and hobbies they do. Damon hill was in a a rock band, does that make him a heroin fuelled crack pot of the rails mentalist? no.

F1 drivers have always had a reputation of the rock and roll lifestyle so i don't see your point.

all that matters is that he puts 100% on the grid, which he does. So theres no point of even persuming the crap you have written in your two posts.

If it wasn't for people fascnination with celebrity culture and intruding on other peoples lifes this wouldn't even been reported.

I think Fernando Alonso is making the Ferrari look much better than it is. I wonder what Alonso could do with either the Red Bull or McLaren cars.

To be honest I’m not all that clued up on the private lives of F1 drivers. Lewis tends to make the news more than most when it comes to the private lives of F1 drivers. From what I’ve read in the past, the F1 greats tend to be fitness freaks. I’m not getting your comment ‘F1 drivers have always had a reputation of the rock and roll lifestyle’. Maybe I get your comment with connection to money, fame, girls, but not hard drinking and drugs. There’s a difference.

When its comes to Damon Hill, he is cleaner than clean. Not unless you know more than wants been reported.

The whole rap thing is seedy. Its another ball game. I’m not into Rap music, although as an outsider, having experienced some of it, it tends to involve talk of Drugs, Girls, Guns, Gangs, Police, Dollar signs. Maybe I've got it all wrong and am generalizing too much ;P
