Is it wrong to enjoy both SR2 & GTAIV for completely different reasons? Controversial!

Not at all if you don't indulge in typical internet hyperbole. I thought both were great because of their differences. GTA 4 had a good story and has some of the best DLC of this generation. Saints Row 2 was just pure fun, a great co-op game and had Eliza Dushka's sexy vocal work.

Anyway I look forward to more Saint's Row, hopefully somewhere other than Stillwater though.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

SR2 was inferior to GTA4 in almost every aspect. The exception is being fun.
    Really looking forward to SR3.

I have SR1 lying around somewhere unplayed. How does it hold up when you played SR2 first?

Melee combat in SR2 was superior to IV and it is a superior game. cant wait for 3 either.

I thought Saints Row 2 was a lot of fun and the co-op mode was a barrel of laughs. Some of the side activities were fun, others not so much (the tow truck one being almost impossible if you and a mate didn't cheat the system slightly, probably actually impossible alone although I never tried it).

I'm still waiting for my GTAIV to arrive, but I got SR2 last month and... wow! It's a sequel to Vice City! Finally!

Lovin' the co-op. Maybe not a great game, but a good and very fun game.

It does lack a certain polish, though - Fallout 3 (the only other game to crash my 360) crashed three times in over a hundred hours. SR2 is up to five times in less than thirty hours already. Failing a mission because your car gets wedged INSIDE the landscape can be annoying. Fingers crossed for a smoother SR3.

I WISH the online co-op worked better though, it's so much fun when it does work but it's very prone to crashing

Love the escort minigame, where you have to drive a prostitute around town with clients, only in co-op your buddy is in the back seat and you have to play the sex minigame while the other player drives :D

The names of some of the sex acts were hilarious. I was the driver and my mate was the prostitute and we failed a couple of times because he was laughing so hard at the names he'd just read.

I want this to have the Geomod 2 engine from Red Faction and be set in Los Angeles.

Mainly just because I want to be able to go through Los Angeles methodically tearing down every single building with a sledghammer.

GTA 4...yuck,combat is so horrible,horrible...tried to play TLAD recently, took me few hours to "adapt",it fells like controlling Russian submarine that is powered by two hamsters.

Saint Row 2 demolishes it in everything else except graphics. Can't wait for Saints Row 3.

    You're insane.

    :)

edit; Saints Row 2's combat was far, far worse. Not really any better than the combat I was enjoying in Tomb Raider back in 1996.

Do you get to spray shit over people's houses in GTA IV?

    No? End of debate. :)

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

Saints Row 2 is like shagging a fat bird , fun at first but then you realise what a horrible mistake you've made when it lasts longer than 5 minutes.

Says someone whos never played Saints Row I take it.

Its a great game, almost tempted to say the 'fun' which should have been in GTA4.

Depends what you're looking for really, as to whether or not you'll prefer GTA IV or Saints 2

The only things SR2 has going for it is its co-op, a few funny lines of dialogue, elements of its OTT nature (most of which gets boring fast), and a reasonable level of fun.

GTA obliterates it in every other aspect. The audio is average at best, the graphics functional when not glitchy, the plot is hilariously bad (which is sort of the point, granted), the missions really not that exciting or varied, your character is the biggest twat in the history of gaming, the bug list must be the longest one this side of Fable 2... I could go on and on. SR2 is a worthy 7/10 if you ask me, I'm thankful I just borrowed a copy till completion.

And I found GTA to be more fun because the combat was actually half decent and not straight out of generic 3rd person shooting combat mechanics school circa 1998*. I reckon a fair few of these people who moan about GTA IV being "no fun" (please) are doing so because the game is so popular. How you could have "no fun" in GTA IV (and the Episodes as well, especially in fact) is beyond me. Oh noes it doesn't have jetpacks and insurance fraud missions, game is fail.

    * I can do hyperbole too, though I still think it's not much better than Tomb Raider for instance

    Confirmed for the autumn, then!

Nobody else care? I really enjoyed SR2. Like... a lot!

Hopefully they spend more time ironing out any bugs and giving the game a bit more polish. Maybe a new engine as well.

Yeah, it was a 'little bit wonky'. Surmising it'll be on the same engine as Red Faction Armageddon, but don't know that for sure.

I've really enjoyed both SRs so I'm looking forward to this but I'd really like a new location as the same city (even with some changes) would be taking the piss.

    This space left intentionally blank.

It's funny as I thought sr2 is superior to gta4 except in the story department.
