Well, I'm sure I've seen it cheaper before but it didn't take my fancy then, but it does now. If I wait I might not feel like a JRPG again.
I'm that fickle.

The last Remnant has been in then ultimately out of my basket in the last 4 or 5 Steam sales! I remember being really interested in it way back when it released on 360 but everytime I go to buy it I watch a lets play on youtube and every lets player comments on it's traditional Jrpg grindy nature..
That's fine but I don't know if I can/want to commit that amount of time to a game that's not quite top tier..
Also it was £1.99 in the Steam sale.
xXJippedXx... on EVERYTHING!
The length is something that's putting me off a bit. I already have a couple of RPGs to play as well, I probably shouldn't buy a 3rd game I'll (possibly) end up neglecting.
I could wait until it's on sale on steam, but I might not feel like trying it then, whereas I feel sort-of up for it now.
(Tbh I think I'm mostly tempted because I've been paid and feel like buying something.)

Ah, as I suspected it would be, The Last Remnant had indeed been added to the humble bundle, along with just cause 1 and a couple of hitman games.
Indeed it has.
Really having difficulty weighing up whether I want to buy the bundle though. Last Remnant remains vaguely tempting, but nothing else is really that appealing. If I went for the top tier of games Guardian of Light is also vaguely tempting.
I doubt I'll get anything at this point, if I deliberate over a purchase this long I doubt I'll bother.

I take it Last Remnant is a JRPG?

Don't know too much about it apart from the combat sounds interesting and it looks fairly nice, in a JRPG kinda way.
Last Remnant is, more precisely, a strategy RPG. Big battles with multiple squads are what's it all about.
That and cluelessly wandering in towns looking for the next random cutscene trigger. I haven't played any other game in that particular genre so I can't say how it compares to the likes of Final Fantasy Tactics, but never felt the urge to play it much.
It DOES do away with the usual save point silliness so it's not all bad, but I wouldn't go in expecting wonderment.
Not worth getting the bundle for if nothing else appeals IMO.

I got about an hour into Last Remnant, died in the first fight because I didn't understand the battle system which had barely been explained and then was kicked back to the title screen. No retry option, no autosaving, nothing.
Maybe it's my fault for expecting the genre to have progressed past the days of the SNES, but I swiftly uninstalled it after that.
Wing Commander III is Origins free game on the house.

Last Remnant isn't even a good JRPG let alone a good game. There are far better examples of the genre if you really want one of them.

They recently launched an old games section so maybe it's too do with that.

Tesla Effect $7.99 on GOG today.
So, it looks like Battlefield 4 is free on Origin until August 14th. That should be more than enough time to finish the campaign, and I won't even have to pay EA the five bucks of Access for that.
Now I just hope it will run well enough on my PC.
I wouldn't bother with the campaign even for free.

It's just a bit boring that's all. The graphics are really nice so there's that, at least.
Well it just crashed on me with some kind of memory error from the GPU... ok, I got a 1GB card, but my textures were set to medium. Meh, gonna have to lower the details further.

If you lower the graphics any further it'll be like playing Manic Miner
Must have been Mantle acting up. On D3D11 I'm now playing on High details (except textures on medium, and no FXAA because it sucks) and I don't really have any problems anymore. The framerate holds up pretty well too.
I wonder how the console versions look like in comparison. Frankly the PC version on medium/high doesn't look very good to me. And the animations are beyond terrible, and the guy's foot is apparently a sprite because I walked above a crouched guy with it, and when I was using the car those civilians NPCs just kept clipping through it as if nothing happened. And soldiers can't see me even if I'm standing right next to them and they turn their head toward me. And then at one point I fell through a boat. All this, and much more, just on the first two chapters.
It's really really bad. Say what you will about modern shooters like Homefront or COD Ghosts, they at least seem to have high production values. This game isn't just boring, but it looks terrible too.

I have it on PC and PS4 and it looks a lot nicer at 1080p on PC with high settings. It's a really great looking game and I've not experienced any technical issues whenever I've played (not a massive amount on PC).

Got Blood Bowl for a couple of quid, I have a feeling it's going to be fairly shit though.
I thought Blood Bowl was OK for what it did. I didn't play much of the board game in the past but the PC game does an adequate if not stellar job.
I'm uncertain about Space Hulk, well not at that price but was cheaper in the summer sale. My brother used to play the tabletop version but I never tried it. The concept appeals but I thought it didn't review too well. Anyone played the Steam version?

Cheers. I'll give it a miss unless it's stupidly cheap in a sale. I'd only be playing against the AI opponent if I ever got it.

If an arrow to the knee stopped you sampling it, Skyrim is a mere £2.49 on GAME
