    Is the ff7 port any good?

    Can anyone help me understand the Steam sales?

    I'm seeing this list of about two dozen games with percentages off on the main page, but when I browse through my wishlist, far MORE games than that are actually discounted.

    So where can I get a definitive list of all the games that are actually on sale? The hundred or so titles, instead of just the front page?

    This is maddening. Its like a store that's actually trying to hide the bargains. I'm sure I'm forgetting about some of the really good ones I've always wanted and steam isn't helping.

    Pretty much everything Steam sell is on sale usually. The Daily/Flash sales are highlighted as those are the lowest prices those games will be during the whole thing.

    If you've got your eye on something wait until the end of the sale and if it hasn't been in a daily then buy it.

    @Skirlasvoud
    Hold off on buying anything unless its on the daily deal or flash sale, there's a chance that the games you want will get lowered in price. If they don't get any further reduction, on the last day of the sale you can simply buy whatever didn't make the dailies.

    I use Vapor for Android for browsing the Steam stuff. Go to the Specials tab, swipe down and apply the different filters. It'll highlight all kinds of bargains you missed from the front page.

    Give yourself £5 or ½ gig, you're worth it.

    Guacamelee is at Humble for $3.75 today - that's £2.30 - and Shadowrun's £12/£7.35. Oh, and Papers, Please for $5/£3.06. So far I've spent far more on their sale than Steam (Papers Please, Guacamelee, Foul Play).

    Put the stuff you REALLY want to your wishlist and check only that every 8 hours.

    Doesn't work if the thing you want is a package. I really want the Legacy of Kain games but only some of them are on sale, and the collection isn't just now. It was in the Summer Sale so I'm hoping it'll come up later.

    As such, I still have to check the front page and all the temptation it contains ;)

    Any thoughts on Foul Play? It does look good.

    @mowgli FTL, Limbo and Mark of the Ninja amongst others. If you log into the Humble Bundle website and scroll to the bottom of your library page it will have a list of all of the bundles you've purchased
    Cheers. Just found my paypal receipt for it but can't find the download email >:(

    For some stupid reason, despite buying almost all the bundles I've never bothered creating an account. Is there any other way to get my download links again?

    I was sort of intrigued by that Nether game the other week. Anyone tried it and recommend it for 8 quid?

    If FFVIII drops to that price, my resolve will evaporate.

    @mowgli There's a link at the bottom of the Humble front page for a key re-sender. Looks like you just need to pop in the email address you used when you made the purchase

    Link

    Not sure how it works for multiple bundles though!

    I had to use that when one of my purchases crashed my browser. I got an e-mail with a link to ever single bundle I'd ever bought from that address. Handy stuff :)

    @joeymoto108 I played the original PC port. I think it's effectively the International (harder) version. Played the PSX version a bit afterwards and thought it was comparatively easy. I never had any issues with the PC version and the MIDI music was great with a wavetable card like the Yamaha XG. Looks like the new version has some improvements on top of that, including digital music. For more precision than my wanderings take a look here:
    http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII/Version_Differences

    I loved FFVII at the time but would say that if you've had your fill of animé and JRPGs (like I have now) your experience may differ.

    Would get FF8, but I know I won't have time to play it. Always liked that one despite the weird ending.

    The junction system was brilliant.

    Thanks for the reply, mate. Completed it on PSX back in the day so many times that I lost count. Sounds like it's a copy and paste of the original, nothing really of any notable value has been added. Think I'll probably just wait until a later Steam Sale to get it, my backlog's big enough as it is!

    I'm one of the weirdo's who prefers 8 to 7- if that goes down in price it's an instabuy for me.

    Deus Ex now even cheaper. I've still got a giftable copy of the DX Collection if someone wants to trade for DX 1 and Invisible War (currently £1.24 each).

    Each of the PSone games had their flaws, loved them though.
    Wish the ff7 mod didn't sound so daunting!

    X-COM enemy unknown for £7.49 would seem to be a steal if you're into that sort of thing. Anyone tried it?

    @estoo Yep, it's a very good game!

    And the prices changed since I checked at just after 6pm, so the deals are a bit better :)

    @PearOfAnguish Would that turn my Deus Ex HR in to the director's cut?

    Still waiting for the walking dead S1 to go cheaper. It usually does. Though, I'm wondering if they'll stop it this time cause of the release of S2...
