No, they paid to fund the development of the game. And they got a load of extra digital tat on top.
If they can't accept that they paid that money to get the game made and that their money was for the dev budget and not purely for alpha/beta access, then that's their problem. Saying that everyone else should suffer with high prices because they don't understand the actual reason kickstarter is there in the first place or what their money was paying for is their problem, not ours. They weren't paying for alpha/beta access, they were paying to cover the dev cost. The access was simply a "thank you" for donating that much long before anything concrete was there to play with.
On Kickstarter, you're not just paying to play the game, you're paying to see it made. There is a big difference between that and people who then purchase over a year later purely to play it. They are two very different things.
