    @Mr-Brett

    No, they paid to fund the development of the game. And they got a load of extra digital tat on top.

    If they can't accept that they paid that money to get the game made and that their money was for the dev budget and not purely for alpha/beta access, then that's their problem. Saying that everyone else should suffer with high prices because they don't understand the actual reason kickstarter is there in the first place or what their money was paying for is their problem, not ours. They weren't paying for alpha/beta access, they were paying to cover the dev cost. The access was simply a "thank you" for donating that much long before anything concrete was there to play with.

    On Kickstarter, you're not just paying to play the game, you're paying to see it made. There is a big difference between that and people who then purchase over a year later purely to play it. They are two very different things.

    @Daddy-Doom-Bar

    No, not a chip at all. The game looks interesting to me, but nothing I think is going to blow my mind. And it's not like I couldn't afford it if I didn't want to. And it's also not like I havent backed plenty of Kickstarters, either. But if other people were able to pay less than me to play those games then I wouldn't get uppity about it, because I was backing the development, not paying just to play something that has already been developed.

    @darkmorgado Don't be ridiculous, nobody is suffering.

    I know what kickstarter should be but I dispute that 99% of people actually treat it that way not that it matters in this context anyway. What matters is that they set out how it was going to work from the start and that's what they're doing, dress it out how ever you want to fuel your outrage. This isn't going anywhere so I'll bow out and let the thread get back on track.

    I think you're vastly over-estimating how much I give a shit about it ;)

    I don't like it, but that just means I won't be buying it. I'm not about to launch a petition or something.

    It's not on offer or anything but Papers, Please is a really great game. Well worth checking out.

    Good to know... I've heard very mixed things. Reviews seem to be loving it (possibly because it's indie and a bit political), whereas player feedback has been all over the place.

    It's certainly interesting, I played the beta a couple months back and it was very entertaining.

    It's not much of a "game" per se but it's definitely worth trying the demo/beta. You'll know from that if you want to continue our not.

    I plan on picking it up at some stage.

    Personally, I'm finding smaller games like this to be a lot more entertaining lately. The indie scene is really great, the variety is akin to the crazy stuff you used to see on the C64, Speccy.

    Boxing Manager ftw.

    Didn't it start as a competition entry developed in a really short time or something?

    Outside chance, but did anyone buy Just Cause 2 in the Steam Summer Sale and want to get rid of it? The game has been welded into my 360's drive for a few weeks now, but I just got a new PC and fancy checking it out with shinies set to 11.

    Just don't want to pay a tenner for the privilege. Happy to trade game/stuff or just cash for it.

    Failing that, paging PenguinJim to the thread to find it (with a Steam key) anywhere in the omniverse for under three squid. ;)

    Is Stronghold 3 as bad as the reviews suggest?

    Just Cause 2 is quite frequently discounted. Just bide your time if you can't find it just now.

    Bide my time? BIDE MY TIME?! I didn't spend years waiting for Speccy games to load, and surviving to The Future where games are beamed directly to your computer from the ether, only to bide my time!

    I meant to buy it in the last sale, cursing my stupidity now.

    Cheers for the link, @bad09, I'll check it out! :)

    Anyone interested in trading my Batman Arkham City Game of the year edition for Spelunky?

    If this isn't allowed please remove this comment. (or better, move to appropriate section)

    Might have been a product of some game jam but I don't know to be honest

    I should really catalogue my spare game keys. I thought I had a Just Cause 2 spare, but in fact I do not. Might have a Darksiders spare though.

    Yeah, getting Gamefly to do anything with my various VPN options is proving to be more than a little annoying. :) But I shall prevail!

    @PenguinJim

    Any difference between steam sacrifice and the old retail one? Obviously no steam achievement as it's to old but what about general tweaks.  I ask as I have it on disc somewhere and it's awesome.
