The three Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver games are only 4.75 as a bundle deal at the moment.

Is there some sort of loophole where devs can make steam codes available for purchase outside of steam without incurring the hefty cut that Valve take on actual Steam purchases?
  • Deleted user 6 March 2013 05:29:29
Isn't a loop hole, just a simple case that the developer-publisher has there own set of steam codes to sell or give away. How else would you explain humble bundles

And its usually worth checking the Devs site. FTL and Don't Starve have been cheaper than Steam if purchased via their respective devs site (Don't Starve gives 2 chrome keys and 2 steam keys for example).

If I delete local content for games in my library the save games stay, don't they?

@Armoured_Bear I'm 99% certain they do, as i have done this before then reinstalled a game months later to find my saves intact. Most, if not all saves, can be found in your "My Documents" folder. Have a look in there!

I assumed that was the case, thanks a lot.

I don't think there's an answer that covers all the games, some delete everything, others don't. The ones with Steam Cloud don't, but a lot of others that I've played definitely wipe everything including saves.

What games in particular are you removing?

It was Borderlands 2, Crysis 2 I think.
I've already done it but haven't checked the saves.

I finally cleaned my Humble Bundle account, here are some free codes if anybody's interested:

    Titan Quest: pulverized

Fieldrunners, BIT.TRIP BEAT, SpaceChem, and Uplink: disintegrated

    Solar 2: annihilated

    Dungeon Defenders + DLC: vaporized

    Aaand they're gone. Have fun!

Titan Quest is an awesome game. Poured so many hours into that + the expansion; my steam played time of 100 or so hours isn't even close...

Good game, but the difficulty ramps up to the point where I had to stop playing. I think it was a kind of Greek baths stage where I started to notice how tough it was getting.

Yeah, there's a few bits where you need two players, or a "buddy" or the pyromancer's rock-shield-invincible-for-six-seconds-so-drink-health-potions-quickly thing...

The worst one for me was the dude at the end of TQ (not the expansion)... and the expansion area that's all green and looks like Sci Fi meets end of labyrinth... you find yourself running in, killing two dudes and legging it to heal up. If you get anything that gives you regen it's worth it's weight in pie.

Arma 2 and all its addons are on sale at the mo. Perfect for anyone who wants to get in on some DayZ action. Got Arma II Combined Operations for 8.49 which is all you need for some zombie killing fun.

Got a horrendous turn-based strategy RPG itch that needs scratching - have seen Heroes of Might and Magic 6 on GMG for 8.

Can anyone tell me if it's any good and if the DRM is really that horrendous?

    Ta!!

@hypoBla5t Dont hold me to this as I'm not 100% sure but I think Ubi dropped their always needed to be connected DRM. It does however need to be registered with Uplay. If graphics dont bother you GoG have the excellent heroes of might and magic 3 for next to nothing atm.

I've not played the later ones but I usually see people recommend 3 over them. I don't know how much of it is nostalgia on their part though.

    @hypoBla5t

A quick google tells me it does play offline, as with all Ubi games now you will lose some stuff by daring not to be under their watchful eye but whether that is something important or not I'm not sure. Other than disabling an actual camera type on Driver I've not seen them put anything too important in the "Get online you peasants!" box.
