    Has anyone ever had a problem with a game not loading on Steam?

    I purchased The Walking Dead from Amazon.com - I installed it but it won't 'sync up' (whatever that means) and crashes whenever I try to start it up.

    Have you tried restarting Steam/your PC?

    The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

    I have. I get a message about 'Cloud Syncing' - I then click past this and it seems to stick on the 'Preparing to launch The Walking Dead' box. ;_;

    Right click on it, choose properties, go to Updates tab, uncheck Enable Steam Cloud synchronization. Restart Steam and try again.

    Thanks for the help, chaps (and sorry for derailing the thread). I tried all of the above, alas, it still doesn't want to load.

    I've opened a 'help' thingy with Steam - perhaps they'll be able to sort it out for me...

    Penguin, I'm sure you've been asked this before but do you work in a place that flags these for you or are you just a really good shopper?
    I check the online shops myself (well, five or six of them), as it's become quite an obsession for me. I do check HUKD when I remember, too - always pleasing to see bargains we've had on the forum for several hours/days finally getting to the vultures over there. I'm slowly getting away from deal-shopping now, though - I've got all the 360 games I want, so I don't generally shop for boxed games any more. I'm actually struggling to think of PC games I want - I even bought The Walking Dead despite not getting on with the demo at all, just because I'm running out of stuff to buy! With the Christmas/New Year sales over, it might be a good time for me to quit bargain-hunting entirely! :)

    Now I'm seriously looking at getting a decent Android device so I'll have another library to buy. :( :) :( :) :( :)

    It does redeem on Steam (GAME's twitter confirms it), it's all one code so you can't split it unfortunately.

    We all sit around pushing buttons to make coloured pixels on a screen become different colours. But at least my further issues save us some money. ;)

    By the way, one of my absolute favourite games from the last couple of years is cheap again this weekend - same price as the last three times, and technically it's a Steam weekend sale, but buying it directly from the developer is the same price and gives you a Steam key and a DRM-free copy. :p

    Oh, it's FTL. Of course.

    Is anyone else's Steam constantly closing atm? Seems to do it everytime I log on. I start a game up, by the time I come back to it, it's closed due to an error.

    My favourite games are on offer here too, but they're not to everyone's tastes. FTL grants quicker access to fun.

    I tried this and all it does is take 99p off the price of each game, making it 8.00 for both. Unless I'm missing something?

    @teamHAM Since the original post was 10 days ago, odds are that the special offer expired.

    I am new to Steam so please bear with me. Just playing with it, downloading some demos and stuff.
    Tried to get the Bioshock demo (never played it) and it seems my recently bought, mid-range semi-decent laptop can't run it? WTF?
    I wonder if it's really such a demanding game. Laptop is Intel i5 with 2GB nVidia GeForce 630M and 4GB of RAM. BTW it can run Sleeping Dogs demo fluently..
    Any info appreciated.

    Fucked if I know. It should run fine, so perhaps you should be more specific as to what you mean when you say "can't run it".

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

    @Cosmopolitan

    Not really the thread for it but looking at your specs even though you are on a lappy you should be able to run it at least. A quick google finds this on Steam that may help.

    http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2823271

    BTW, if you are ever unsure of your system running a game here is a helpful site for figuring out what your specs should be able to do and where the weak area is if there is one.

    Bioshock itself has trouble running on some Windows 7 installations. I imagine the demo would struggle even more so.

    @Dougs It depends of the game unfortunately. Dark Souls for instance, saves you details in your My Documents\NBGI folder.
