The problem with ubi games is u still have to login to uplay to play them even if bought through steam. Your better of buy it cheaper elsewhere and just adding a shortcut to your steam library

I was just in the bathroom looking at the steam sale on my ipod, saw AC3 was on for 19.99. Ran upstairs and turned on my PC and its now 22.49?? Whats that all about.

I've refreshed the steam page on my iPod and it now shows 22.49 too, but i'm not crazy! If I click go back, it shows me the old page at 19.99.

What on earth is going on?

they probably reduced it too much, just like how they didn't reduce Sins of a Solar Empire enough (when it first came up it was 50% off now it's 66%)

That's a no-brainer for anyone. Even if you don't like it, it's worth the experience.

Did I see someone fretting over SC2 at 20?

Go for it. It's fashionable to hate Blizzard but SC2 is awesome. It has a good single-player campaign that genuinely changes how you play it on different difficulties, a decent mode to teach you the basics of competitive play strategies, gives an awful lot of flexibility for each of the three races and is the best rts game using the base building style released since Dawn of War 1.

Mark of the Ninja just gets better. Sooooo good.

I thought I was at the end, especially after reading some people got through it in 5-6 hours, but ohhhhh no. I've spent all day playing it and still not finished.

Yeah cheers man, my mate is proper into it, I am shockingly awful at RTSs but I do fancy it. What I think I'm gonna do is wait until March and pick it up with Heart of the Swarm for 45, crack on with it that way.

Just fighting down XCOM for 10.50 as we speak.

I am also terrible at RTSs but SC2 was really good. Does a great job of introducing you to the genre.

It is ruthless about separating wheat from chaff in multiplayer, but its league separation and matchmaking does a bang up job. It does a small trial run to evaluate your average performance, then chooses a league. Matches plonk you against people slightly below or slightly above your level, your rank changes, you get better, you climb ranks.

    Extended absence decays your rank.

Go in expecting to get in gold or platinum leagues and you will rage unless youre excellent. Best bet, accept your ranking and just learn to get better.

It also has some cool mods via arcade mode (including an interesting bejewelled based one).

It is? I have it on 360 but for portable strategy that isn't civ on the laptop that's mighty tempting.

After deciding not to buy anything, I've so far given in to the Total War collection, Sleeping Dogs, Assassins Creed II and Civ V GOTY... FFS! I need to stop... the only purchase I now want to make is if Fallout: New Vegas is in a flash sale or something.

Ive spent more buying stuff for other people than games for myself. All i have done is shifted my Christmas buying habit onto other people. So no iam not cured despite getting a Rift sub for the period to help.

Oh and to the topic of Starcraft 2. I suck at it but it is excellent fun and once you get an understanding of the base units watch some professional tounrments. Like last years Intel Extreme masters, is actually very entertaining and helps you learn how to combat certain tactics. You can 'try' and watch them before playing Starcraft but alot the terms be missed on you such as 'Natural Expand' and 'Immortal All-in'.

Now stands at Mass Effect 3 and FTL for myself.

Known as 'Sharzam' in 98.5% of games

I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything before promptly breaking that promise. I'm sure I'm not the only one in that boat :-D

Ah, steam sales. I fear them as much as I love them.

I still haven't actually bought anything don't know why, I guess buying the Persona 4 anime helped in that regard but still......waiting for the secret world to go to like 50% off or something well more than it's current 20% anyway.

Tbh I've been nowhere near as bad this steam sale as I have in previous (spending wise). It's been decent, but comparatively nowhere near as good.

    Steam: Baleoce
    PSN: Baleoce
    Nintendo Network: Baleoce

Yeah, I'm hoping to see that one drop further too.

I considered it at 18 now it's on a no-sub model and I love the premise behind it, but the realist in me based on player and critical reception makes me lean towards wanting to see it go a tenner or less before getting it.

MMOs do have a habit of getting heavily discounted in retail stores though, especially after big difficulty (I remember nabbing the Warhammer CE for a fiver in HMV only about 6 months-1 year after launch). Could be a blatant candidate for a bargain somewhere like in HMV if steam disappoints.
