That steam calculator gives different game counts & totals depending on the currency you select...

    330 games for $5073
    332 games for 3510
    329 games for 4737

So not as bad as some people on here...

Woohoo! It's fate! I promised my friend a copy of Orcs Must Die! 2 (Steamworks) as soon as it went on sale (for the co-op), and not only have we set aside some time this weekend to play some stuff anyway, but look what's just dropped to 5.98 (10.00 for a 2-pack). Ooh, my review is on the page there.

(Don't forget to rate and review your Gamersgate library for some store credit)

Edit: forgot the 5% discount code! Use G2PO at the checkout. ;)

Mediocre action game Lord of the Rings: War in the North is 2.82 today using code GMG25-UAAHK-6AI9S at unsecure, unreliable, illegitimate download site GMG. Purchase at your own risk! The game is Steamworks. :)

GMG continue to be great for me, BF3 Premium Edition yesterday was 25, throw in the 25% off code making it 18.75 and the 1.50 in Quidco and I'm finally Premium on the PC version and a colleague got a free copy of the base game.

@Whizzo My experiences with GMG have been nothing but good as well, but recently I've seen so many new PC games on there that are so much cheaper than the "established" competition that it felt dangerously close to those grey-area key sellers.

Ditto on the GMG, they were an official seller of Football Manager 2013 so I presume that they are ok to use. Have bought a few things from there recently and had no issues.

Although LOTR:WINT is supposed to be terrible.

Yeah, LOTR:WINT is prety bad. A lot has to happen that I don't enjoy a loot-em-up, but I think I didn't last longer than an hour. A shame that Snowblind wasted their talent on such a mediocre game, limited by and tied to a franschise that's a bit past its prime (the films, not the books).

I've "suffered" through GMG's security issues, and another EGer was charged without receiving a game, and never managed to get a refund as their "support" couldn't understand them. Throw in the dozens of CAGs who can't get GMG to accept payment, can't get through the checkout, and have GMG-bought Steam games removed from their Steam library (as well as EA's comments that GMG are not a legitimate reseller) and GMG seem to sit somewhere below the genuine, reliable sellers but above the dodgy gray-marketeers.

But if you've never had a problem, that's excellent. I've had two purchases go through without issue. My sister's also managed to drink-drive her way home on more than one occasion without incident.

Do you have a source for this beyond this thread? It would appear to be a cock up on EA's part rather than anything else.

They have Borderlands 2 for 26 quid.
I wonder if it'll go cheaper in the Steam holiday sale (if it appears).
    tempted..

No need to be snippy, whole point of a forum is offer opinion so I was offering mine. You can choose to ignore it if you wish.

And your sister is an idiot. Unless your comment was a joke at the end, then you are.

Well she shouldn't be drink driving then, it's massively irresponsible. I have personal experience of what devastation it can cause, its fucking idiotic.

Any GMG, could be dodgy - be lucky.

That was one of the links provided, but it was covered in quite a bit more detail in a CAG thread at the same time as a CAG having Civ V from GMG removed from their account (I'm sorry, it might have been either the GMG or the Steam thread). If it had just been THQ, or it had just been EA, or if they hadn't happened within the same couple of days, I'd probably call coincidence, but on top of GMG's other problems these past twelve months...

Did you manage to find a source that points to it being EA's cock-up?

EG has a relatively low post count - take a look at the CAG forums. Read the Steam thread, the Amazon thread, the Gamersgate thread, the... well, any deal thread, and you'll find discussion of the deals and games. The GMG thread, however, is stuffed full of problems and support requests (just pick any page at random). So for download sites that are having current problems (like GMG and Shopto), I don't post deals without a warning about the problems that so many people are having.

And yes, my sister is an idiot.

Well the fact that the user had his count unlocked without any explanation from EA would point to it being a cock up on their end, if the code was phoney they wouldn't have done that would they?

Hmm...problem is fixed = good. Zero oversight and accountability, no assurance that it won't happen again, and no explanation for why it happened in the first place = inexcusable.

At least they undid their hamfisted mistake, but it does nothing to help the next person in line who may not be so committed to taking EA to task. Them unbanning you doesn't in any way make me more likely to buy from them, as they did it in such a clandestine, secretive manner.

Does anyone have an Assassin's Creed II PC save from Venice onwards that they would share with me?
I completed it on the 360 and just want to dick about on the PC and enjoy the better visuals.

Don't think AC2 saves can be transferred - it was the first game to use the uplay cloud system thingy, so the saves are tied to the account.

It could have been a five-day ban (for example), and EA's explanation for the banning was described and (apparently) partially quoted in the first post.

But that brilliant and completely mistake-free quote from someone who is obviously one of the finest minds of today has convinced me. EA are obviously evil and GMG are heroes. Neither of them are just companies working to provide a service or goods in order to make a profit.
