I have already picked up Shogun but I'm tempted by Medieval II. It'll run better than Shogun on my current machine, so that's my justification.

I also bought KOTOR yesterday for no other reason than it was 2.49.

If you like city management then simcity 4 is still the best one to buy out there.

    Re current flash sale:

I picked up a boxed copy of Dragon Age for a couple of quid on Enay recently, I'm guessing A steam awakenings wouldn't work with it?

The PC version of Dragon Age is the best version and it's a great RPG.

Get the ultimate edition for 4.99. Hours and hours of quality gaming there.

Yes, Dragon Age is excellent on the PC! I replayed it twice right after I bought it and another time since.
Get the ultimate edition, as it's the same price as just origin but also has the expansion pack, and you're set for the next 100-150 hrs.

Dragon Age was indeed fantastic. Proper old school RPG gaming IMO.

In case anyone missed it the other day, Fable the lost chapters is up for 1.74 as part of the flash sale. Probably my favourite game on the original Xbox and looks like it still holds up rather well.

Thoughts on fable 3? I enjoyed 2 so if just more of the same I might be tempted. I still have the witcher to complete so might be nice to have something lighter as in between RPG.

I think it's more likely that they are European and bought games that would have cost 100 in the UK (and $110 in the US). The EU pricing is especially laughable this sale. ;)

I liked Fable 3. Not a patch on the 2nd game, but still a lot of fun. There isn't really another RPG series like it. Some very funny quests. I am probably in the minority though.

LOL, no i just ordered a new laptop :)

Steam Sale purchases this year was only 26 so far!

OK sorry, when i likened dragon age to an old school rpg, i meant its a bit like baldurs gate and neverwinter nights, and not like skyrim where you just wander for hours and the characters and story are forgettable.

If the DLC were cross-compatible with the Origin version I'd probably get it. 'cos I don't need my money :(

Dragon Age: Origins is well worth the money. I still have my boxed copy upstairs and considering splashing out on the Ultimate pack for Awakenings and all the DLC.

Its decent. I didn't like it as much as Mass Effect... also got a bit sidetracked and haven't returned to it.

Oh and WATCH the fuck out with the mega DA:o bundle. You get lots of wonderful DLC that can randomly void itself at any point. Your sign that this has happened is usually when you visit the campsite and you notice that Sten is naked. And its always him.

The only solution I have really found is to go back to a last known good save. Which is irritating if you have spent the last 6 hours foraging around in the underground dwarf place. Or the other solution is to just not utilise and of the DLC stuff.

I think that was what killed the game for me really.

Oh and I found the DLC ruins the relationship mechanic. It is effectively a 100% compatibility shortcut, with items that can charm your team easily.

But Shale is DLC and is bleeding awesome!

I've just realised despite roughly 80 hours spent playing I never actually finished the game.

It is indeed, until it decides to randomly fuck off on you. You can end up with a totally mute Shale that crashes the game, naked and weaponless comrades. Ridiculous.

I have a load of cack stored at one of the DLC locations, no idea if it is still there.

Think I am foraging around the aforementioned underground dwarf place.

Yeah, I'm with Lou and co. on this one. Dragon Age 1, with the iso camera, felt a LOT like the old school Baldur's Gate/Infinity Engined games to me even if it was a bit of a slow burner.

Unless by old-school RPG you're thinking of the old Dungeon Master/Ishar games from the late 80s, or the monstrously bad Forgotten Realms titles in the 90s. In which case fuck you. ;-)
