A couple of days old, but Steam's holiday sale will continue until January 2nd. Discounts range from 10% to 50%, and despite the recent local currency hiatus, games on Steam now cost a great deal less than in my country's retailers.

At the same time, Ubisoft is now available in Europe. I'm not sure whether it's available in UK, but it should be, lest my geographical skills fail me. Now I get to finally play Beyond Good & Evil.

Just throwing this out there, in case anyone missed it.

I just got X2/X3, Psychonauts, Company of Heroes, Alpha Prime (lol) and Jade Empire SE for 42 euros. Not bad hehe. Of course most of the 'sale' prices should be the normal price with the current exchange rate.

Aside from a couple of absolute bargains (portal/Bioshock) anyone else think that maybe these prices are what DD games should be anyway?

There should be a much bigger reduction normaly.
I bought the Civ4 bundle and that needs a manual to flick through.
No resale or lend it to a mate value either.
I like the game for life aspect of it though.

Dark Messiah is very good, but Im stuck in it at the moment :(

Yes some great buys on steam, just got the Xcom pack, I had most of them already, but now they have integrated it into Dosbox and it supports Vista, so its so much easier to get them to work properly which is great :D

/me has fingers crossed for a new X-com next year

TF 2 should be at least 14,99, but that's my opinion

Without a doubt. No cost for materials, no cost for transport, hardly any overheads to speak of, no giant cut for brick and mortar, advertising is probably a 100th of a cent on the dollar.

Of course there are infrastructure and bandwidth costs to be paid but please, they are trivial in comparison to the old methods.

Charge the consumer the true value and you will get a lot more sales.

Surely the true value is the cost that people are prepared to pay for something?

I know what you are saying, but if no one buys from steam then they would reduce the price. I call it the Nintendo Effect... why reduce the price of something that is meeting or exceeding expectations.

    Bloodlines is fantastic, really.
Get the unofficial patch as that fixes a few things but really it's a great game and due to each of the Vampire clans playing differently there's replayability out the wazoo.

Don't play as a Malkavian on your first playthrough their schtick is insanity so you'll have no bloody idea what's going on unless you've played it before :)
Flawed gem of a game, lovely writing, an amazing Hotel, fancy a sexy nymph as your housepet? Done. It gets a little too shooty towards the end but who cares when the rest of it is that good? :)

    This signature intentionally left blank.

Malkavian is definitely suited to a 2nd playthrough, it's my favourite one though, some of the dialog options are classic. Very flawed game, but classic. Every time it comes up in a thread I end up starting another playthrough. Don't tempt me, have too much to play as it is.

The extra dialogue with the Malkavian is utterly brilliant.
As for the Hotel... man that was an experience.

Brilliant game. Though I tried to play it again recently, and although their is a resolution mod, the UI doesn't upscale nicely with it...

I'm replaying the PC version at the mo, for a fiver it's a no brainer, stunning on PC absolutely stunning. Need a monster CPU though.

Actually this time of year is perfect for PC GTA4. I mentioned on the official thread last night I've created a Christmas radio station and installed this mod. Great fun!
