Ya, LP Vol.1 is quite old now though.

I remember going to progression sessions in 1997, and Danny Bukem was playing out at jungle dances for years before that. Think he's been on the scene since 94, either way he is a veteran.

New State of Mind album - very good.

Aside from the slight usage of female vocals. A pet hate of mine, keep them minimal if you have to use them.

The Mistabishi album is pretty nice ('Drop', on Hospital), but too much dubsteppy stuff really for me on there. A couple of tracks might float deebs' boat too ('Printer Jam' is pretty glitchy and good fun).

fan - I agree on the vocals, generally. It depends on the track though - there's a tune on the last Photek album with female vocals all the way through, but it's liquid and jazzy enough to take it.

    Oh, and indeed, BSE>all.

I'm not massively into said Photek compilation, Deadly Technology is an absolutely fantastic dnb tune though, nice and dark and heavy and NO FEMALE VOCALS :p

Drum and base? You don't have to be on drugs to enjoy this music you know, although it helps.

Aye, great track. The Teebee mix of 'Ni Ten Ichi Ryu' is awesome too.

Original Ni Ten Ichi is better than the Teebee remix IMHO... but they're both awesome :)

I love hearing remixes of classic tunes for the first time.

Remember being in a club when I first heard the Noisia remix of Messiah. Bastard Loxy only played the intro to it and about 2 bars after the initial drop... as the last tune of the night and the lights came on >:(

    Perfect heavy Summer dnb tune

Evol Intent - Middle of the Night

Incredibly apt song title also. Really is a tune for the middle of the night. Love it.

I said above that I find female vox in dnb very hit and miss, and mostly miss. But not in this track. Excellent use of melody over such a deep drop.

When in the fudge are Concord Dawn going to release a new full length album...

    :/

New Zealand is seriously underrated when it comes to music. They've got all urban bases covered, from rap to (obviously) dnb.

Fuck me, Sub Focus manages to disappoint.

Rock It and Follow the Light are garbage. Heard (in fact, downloaded) them ages ago but just found out that they cracked the top 40. Shame because his last 2 releases were solid gold.

    :/

I got right back into this a few weeks ago after a night out in a club where 'Circles' by Adam F came on. I had to dig through some old crates for some old classics, I never actually got round to burning them to MP3 / CD, but the thought was there, if not the effort.

Whomever invents something that plugs into your subconscious and then buys tracks for you from iTunes /whatever and loads them onto your MP3 player of choice overnight (automatically) is going to be a rich man.

All of the below are awesome:

    Logisitics
    High Contrast
    Aphrodite
    Chase & Status
    Hazard
    Hype
    Roni size
    Adam F
    Dillinja
    Shy FX & T-Power

I also enjoy making my own D&B mixes.

One more thing, the random concept tent at this years Global Gathering was immense (Chase & Status and High Contrast sets were the best).

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a ninja.

Bit late on this, 'Era Of Diversion' is a frigging awesome album and well worth buying.
That said, I wish there was an instrumental of 'Middle Of The Night' - I despise female vox in dnb.

I love D&B songs with female vocals and uplifting happy beats - am I right in thinking this sort is "liquid" D&B? I also like D&B with sci-fi movie speech samples is that just generic D&B I take it?
