This is musical perfection, as far as I'm concerned:
Killed the King, left for the New World

Has Osario chucked on the end, and a twee little vid.

The rest of TB is much heavier and more droney, but still very awesome. Killed the King.. is the respite :) There're lovely sections all throughout, and some really incredible heavy stuff - as discussed earlier in this thread, the kind of heavy that is strangely euphoric.

Can someone point me to examples of Talk Talk doing post-rock? So far the earliest examples I have of the genre are Bark Psychosis, 1990.

Laughing Stock and the Spirit of Eden are usually referred to as those albums. They're not post-rock, but they're very, very, very good and very low-key, intricate and gorgeous.

Cheers - downloading the latter from Amazon now. Former not available as an MP3 download.

If you like your post-rock abit more ambient and "out there" then give Set Fire to Flames a listen.

The intro to Rainbow on Spirit of Eden is incredible. The moment when guitar, harmonica and drums and piano finally all meet is absolutely exquisite.

Set Fire to Flames are very good - very eerie at times, quite a hard listen at points.

Wow! Last place in the world I'd expect to find a post rock thread, been loving Godspeed for flipping years, only just now started listening to Silver Mt. Zion, quick question, anyone reckon Arcade Fire fit into the post rock mould?

Not really, more Art Rock at a push.

They did record their debut EP in Hotel2Tango though.

Envy tour in October. More excited about this than anything else all year, all decade. Only comes around once every 2 or 3 years and blows me away every time.

How would I go about finding out where some live gigs were and when?

Is there a mailing list, a facebook group or something?

I can't be assed trawling through the line ups of the local dives.

    'Sup, what's guanine?

I agree with Edwannawonga. I've just got the 'I could not love you more' album after hearing the tune on here and it's wonderful :)

    Thank you RedSparrows!

Glad you guys liked it. Proper stonking ambient, as far as I'm concerned. It's gorgeous.

Gonna listen to it now, right after Maybeshewill finish pounding my face in.

    This live is awesome

    New Russian Circles is out.

    Drumming is brilliant? Check.
Bass is brutal and dark? Check.
Guitar is doing all manner of crazy things? Check.
Dark and chugging but never relentlessly so, with cool little rocky bits and lighter moments? Check.
    Sparrows happy? YESSSSSS

I recommend Light Bearer, they're a UK band that leans towards the heavier side and really good live.

It was fucking great! Seen them 3 or 4 times now and it always amazes me what they can do. They're so fucking loud but I have no idea how they do it. It's so easy to pick out one instrument from the other.
