Registered 9 years agoI'll watch it, and it will be terrible, and part of my brain will be going "this is terrible, you know", and that will have absolutely no effect on the other, larger part of my brain that is going "wheee! Explosions! Guns! More explosions! you know what would be good about now? Explo- yay! Explosions!" -

Registered 7 years agoStallone seems to be aging much better than Arnie. I can't believe they even brought Van Damme back from the dead for this.
Should be great! Still would have preferred if he made another Rambo, though. -

Registered 2 years agoThe bit where Arnie rips the door off, looks so cheesy and fake I don't know if I should laugh or cry
Is going to be one of those films where you turn your brain off and just watch the film do the experience. Not knocking it as I grew up watching the 80s/90s action films
Did watch delta force 2 last night, now that is an experience everyone has to go through. In the film Chuck Norris boss, the general, well I don't know if he was acting or some nut job they found on the street. They should have made the film about him instead -

This. A MASSIVE Stallone fan which started when my sister took me to see RockIII. The reason I started to lift weights (well that and pumping iron) I was so let down by the first film, one of the worst films I have ever seen...this however looks better.

What? Stallone looks like he's made of partially-melted wax these days - probably from all the plastic surgery. I can't actually look at his face any more.

Registered 8 years agoNot much of a suprise that this is a pile of shit. But don't worry as Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Nic Cage are in talks for number 3.

Saw this at the cinema last night. It was brilliant.
I mean technically and critically it's terrible, but my god I thought it was brilliant. The action was silly, the cheesy one liners are cheesy and I was jumping up and down like a wally when Arnie appeared. This is so much better than the first film. Critics will hate it, fans of Arnie/Sly films will (I think) really like it.
Leave your brain at home, grab an oversized bucket of coke and just enjoy it for what it is. MINDLESS silliness. -

Registered 7 years agoRealy looking forward to this.
Growing up LOVING every Arnie film and a big fan of Bruce, Sly, ect, i am hoping this will be a turn your brain off and just enjoy the ACTION film... -
It really is. I had more fun with this than both Avengers and Batman combined (and I enjoyed those a lot).

Overheard a guy at the cinema yesterday asking for a ticket to the Extendables 2. If I were a cinema proprietor I would refuse to sell tickets to anyone who can't name the film they're about to see.

@craigy Girl at work went to see the Thorax the other day.

Registered 8 years agoBinky, as a fan of Scott Adkins, will I be dissapointed with what he gets to do in this?? From the trailers it looks like he's Van Damme's right hand man. (tall guy, Brown hair, kinda looks like Ben Affleck)
The guy's a ridiculously good martial artist, but I have a feeling he's going to be dispatched, with ease, by someone who's 102. -
@captainrentboy LOL He's a henchman and as such is relegated to henchman duties, but when his time comes to show off his skills I'm sure you'll enjoy it

his legend preceds him. i couldn't tell you a single film he's been in... it's they chuck norris jokes, isn't it!
Surprised they even considered Chuck Norris. Every one of his films are weak sauce.
also pleased to see van damme back. most of his films are awesome, but they seem to get laughed off. tragic waste. -

Registered 9 years agoHave to say the second was a lot better, enjoyed it a lot, very cheesy of course but still good fun. They all look so old, I have been watching Arnie and Sly on the big screen since the early 80's, so obvious I suppose. Still looking buff, but old as well and with the Hollywood smiles of course. I'm sure we will get a 3rd film, who will be in that one ?
Segal ?
Cynthia Rothrock ?

Registered 9 years agoArrow in the Head's cast list of Expendables 3
Some interesting ideas in there. Kurt Russell, Mel Gibson, Carl Weathers, Wesley Snipes, Michael Biehn, Peter Weller, Rutger Hauer, Michael Dudikoff...
Mr T. and Hulk Hogan as the bad guys may be pushing it a bit

Registered 6 years agoI'm trying to get through the rotten sack of corn that is 'Expendables 2' at the moment. How did they make it worse than the first film? It's amazingly bad.
To pass the time and try to keep off XCOM, I compared box office takings of these two dangers to mental health against the fantastic, entertaining, buddys-and-guns-done-right A-Team and was shocked to find that both of them did better!
Total Gross The A-Team $77,222,099 The Expendables $103,068,524 The Expendables 2 $85,028,192
What a terrible world we live in.
Why does Stallone do this to himself? -

Registered 6 years agoOh yes.
Before I seal the Lovefilm envelope, did anything entertaining happen in the last 15 minutes? By entertaining, I mean something along the lines of the entire cast apologising for what they've done, and promising never to do it again. -

Registered 10 years agoI get the feeling people who don't enjoy the Expendables movies just aren't the target audience.
I watched the sequel on my own and found it quite cringey, then watched it again pissed up with friends and as it turns out it's class.
ONE MORE!
Could have done with more Van Damm though, that guy is amazing. -

Registered 5 years agoThe first is terrible, the second managed to eclipse its papness.
The target audience was made out to be those like myself who grew up on these guys action flicks. Not one thing about them was anything like those movies. -
Haven't seen the second film but I am definitely the target audience. The first film is one of the largest piles of shit I have ever seen. It's like having poo smeared in your face by a seventy year old man in a care home.
