Well at least there's one zombie movie out next year based on a book that doesn't shit on the source material (apparently, I've not read it) and this trailer has got me keen in handing over my cash at the cinema.

Fast zombies are crap. I don't get why they would adapt the book and change one of the most fundamental parts of the world it paints.

@Whizzo - the book is excellent. At its heart, its more a story of love and humanity where the zombies are kind of incidental.

Yup pretty much, I still enjoyed I am Legend though and maybe this will make a fun action flick.
Yeah, agreed with this. I reckon it'll be the same - average bollocks-but-entertaining-bollocks film, much better book.

There was only one zombie in the Bible and it never explicitly says he ate anyone's brain. He did go apeshit in a market once and knock everything over, mobile phone covers everywhere.

Happened the catch the trailer at the cinema last night. Had a moment of 'ah crap, I hope this isn't World War Z....' just as everything started exploding. As has already been said - it looks like an utter disservice to the source material.

Should have been made in a documentary style, or, even better, as a single season (Band of Brothers-esque) TV series.

It could still be good. Maybe they amped up the explosions in the trailer in order to grab people who don't know the source material.

Saw the film this week, while I'm a bit disappointed that a lot of the zombie society stuff got ditched, it's still an enjoyable version of the book.

Something I really doubt I'll be saying if I can be arsed to see World War Z, although as a Cineworld Unlimited member I'm sure I will.

Looks like the movie will end up being nothing like the book. Will still watch it, though.

As I said in the trailer park thread. Watched as an adaptation of the book, it looks awful. Taken on it's own, it looks better than a John cusack disaster movie.

Well it can't be worse than 2012 that's true.

Still got bugger all in common with the book other than the title though.

Initial reaction? It's nowt like the book but pretty intense

Take with the usual pinch of salt.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Cinema trailer looked good in a whizz-bang sort of way.

I think I'll wait until some "normal" people see it rather than celebs at a private screening.

The 3D trailer before STiD was terrible.

Reading IGN's impressions of the film:

"World War Z is a big, solid zombie movie." - cool, I'm currently watching The Walking Dead and am in a zombie mood at the moment, intrigued.

"Its globe-spanning story and reams and heaving mountains of ghouls give it a scope that I don't think any film in this genre has seen before" - quality, the book is set all over the world showing how different countires reacted to the outbreak etc so good to see that it's keeping that in there, as most early reports were that it had strayed from the book a bit too much

"We've come a long way from having to hole up in a farmhouse to fend off the living dead." - very good, liking this confirmation of the scope of the film.

"Fans will recall that the film wound up in the spotlight during its production when it had to undergo reshoots..." - probably a good thing considering the earlier problems it sounded like the film was having, this is all very positive.

"...and, reportedly, required its ending to be rewritten..." - excellent news, this film is sounding better and better!

"...by Damon Lindelof" - oh fuck off, I'm out.

Friend of mine worked on this in Glasgow. Said the whole shoot was awash with uncertainty, disagreements, delays, politics and conflicts, and that while that actually describes most movie shoots, this one was particularly hard work.

The film itself sounds like it might be alright as a zombie blockbuster, but not remotely akin to the book as it's been described to me in the past.

It won't be like the book unless it's told in faux-documentary style.

This looks not to be the case.

I think a film could be made that tells the same sort of story that isn't faux-documentary. What was that one about drugs that Soderbergh did?

Anyway, we won't be going to see it, not worth 25 to see yet another high-budget Brad Pitt action flick, whereas I'd have loved a film that took actual inspiration from the book rather than just the title. 4.49 on iTunes six months later, maybe.

When I saw Contagion the first thing I thought was that it was the exact blueprint a World War Z film could be done.

    Then we got this.

Just call it 'A Fuck Load of Zombies!' and it wouldn't be as dead in the water as it feels.

Look, it might be a decent film. I'll go see it if friends want to go. But I'm not expecting it to be anything like the source material.

I never heard of the book and thought this looked great! It's the only film I want to actually go see atm.
