Ha, Lindelof involved as well. Nail firmly in coffin.

I bet he thought slow zombies would be boring so lets think, zombie-virus-plague-swarm...that's it! A fast moving zombie swarm. Why, just because.

The trailer of the trailer suggests a deviation from the book. Fine, I accept that.

But those of you that are condemning the film as shit as a result, are having a laugh.

It could be a massive deviation from the book but turn out to be a brilliant movie. The point being you've seen 5 seconds of footage from a movie that's still in production and have already made your mind up.

There are 2 types of people in this thread. Those that get it and those that don't.

It looks like they're doing the actual War which, with the right director and writer, could have been an interesting and entertaining companion to the book.

I just bought the rights to Star Wars
I will make it as a costume drama set in the late 1700's Paris

    It will revolve around syphilis

There will be no bad guy

I like this idea and have hope for the film now.

The book itself was clearly not suited to a direct transfer to the big screen. Taking the IP and filling it out rather than some doomed attempt to rehash it makes more sense.

Just saw the trailer... What the fuck Were they thinking!!!!!!

Yet another example of a director, star and script writers who just dont "get" the book.

As someone else has already said this should have been an HBO series with an episodic flashback structure.

How they were ever gonna get that book into a 2hr movie was beyond me anyway.

As far as I'm concerned its just a film that borrows the name of the book nothing more.

Why is the CG so bad?

Why do the zombies appear to be a liquidy "wave" of some kind?

Why is this happening in the first place?

    DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN.........

    BUUUUUUUUHHHWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Replace the zombies with literal tidal waves and the film would be identical.

Yeah I totally loved the bit where the military unloaded a pile of missiles on the waves in that film. If only they had kept firing then those waves would have stayed where they were huh ?

    Oh wait that didnt happen.

Sorry but carbon copying the book ends up giving one disjointed films that a few fans may love but never makes it to the full story. Done this way, it looks like the general plot gets preserved just told differently, and the chances of 2 more films are much better.

It doesn't look like the book? Find a film of a book that doesnt see changes. An HBO series ? Again, will never get past series one if its lucky as the average viewer wont initially see much difference from Walking Dead and half of the events will basically be made up using radio reports and archive film, just not the budget to do it well in a mini series.

World War Z, the book, is, as the book itself points out, a fraction of the story in the world the author creates. This is simply more of that story from another point of view and you can clearly see some elements of the book in the newer trailer.

Ok. So this looks very 12 rated friendliness. But, I do kinda like the relentlessness of the hoards. Shame really, pretend it's not the book, take out the 'We need you Brad Pitt', the family and whiny kids, the parping and the totally indefensible military stupidity and it could work.

Terrible trailer. Hate the music they keep on remixing for every action film coming out, plus we didn't actually see what the zombies were like, other than the fact that they could possibly combine to form Megazord.

Also, waaayy too much focus on Brad Pitt. I know he's the main character, but the trailer made it look like the whole movie was just about him.
