Powered on my PC today and instead of booting up it just whirs, attempts to load and then repeats this process over and over. Anyone out there know what could be the problem?

Possibly your boot sector is borked.
Go to BIOS make the cd/dvd the main boot device.
Put your operating system disc in the drive.
System should boot from the CD/DVD instead.( will ask you to choose Boot device )
Choose repair windows options.
It may ask you a few security questions ( passwords etc ) also it may not.
By repairing the install you can repair the book sector.
Alternately, make your current main HD a secondary drive( then unplug it ), pop in another drive, make it primary and format it with your O/S.
Then when all up and running plug in your original drive set to secondary and you will be able to read the data from it, transfer required files, and then format the orginal drive too.
I'd opt for the first option if it were my option. I'd opt for that.

Bassically if your not more specific you can never be helped, anything anyone else says is a wild stab in the dark and probably not worth your time.

Are there three red lights lit on the front of your PC?
