The SSX series is legitimatley one of the worse series of games I have ever played in my life.
However I would highly recommend Amped 3, you can pick it up on 360 for about a fiver now.

Registered 10 years agoHaving just recently finished the surprisingly fun, playable and accessible Amped 3, I would love to see another SSX or Amped on the cards.
I picked SSX up with my PS2, back on Launch Day, and it kept me and my mates who were camping in for our 42-hour gaming marathon absolutely hooked, along with 'splitters and tekken TT, of course.
I had previously hated boarding games, or sports games in general - none seemed as worthy as Daley Thompson's Decathlon...
... but this was a breath of fresh, frame-rate speedy mountain air, a really fun game all around. Perhaps innovation didn't continue through the whole series, but 3 was a brilliant mountain-cruising experience, one I was reminded of heavily by the backcountry sections of Amped.
So next-gen snowboarding lunacy +1... especially in the modern age of multiplayer antics - the 'push other riders over' moves, and the competitive Stunt challenges, not to mention mountain-long races, could surely only be full of win. -

Registered 7 years agoShaun White on the Wii seems to be quite ok but I haven't played it yet. I also had a lot of fun with SSX Blur on the Wii even though a lot of people didn't really like it that much. Maybe it helped that it was the first SSX I got my hands on (never played the previous ones).
Sadly I don't know about any others right now because I really want one. There is one in development called Stoked which looks nice from the screens but I don't really know much about it. -

Registered 8 years agoQuite surprised with the Wii version of Shaun White, only played it with the balance board when I took it over to a mates, and we didn't bother getting past the 2nd course with all the trick jumps.... but that entertained us for a couple of hours and I definitely want to play some more.
One of my friends is a snow boarder, normally a hater of consoles as well and he had to admit to finding that the control did make some sense.
The real trick seems to be to arrange yourself so the natural balance position is more than a little bit forward and centred. -

Registered 8 years agoAmped 3 is really quite good - especially considering how cheap it is these days. Very light hearted and funny too. -

Registered 8 years agoA new SSX would be great. However they need to stick to snowboarding, and not make things too complicated. They got it right first some with SSX IMO. -

Great news if true, but I reckon Alex Ward is going to insist we take the ski lift back to the top every time we lose. >_<

Amped 3 was really good. Surprised they never made a sequel to it.

Registered 8 years agoI'm hoping however they go the ssx tricky route and not the ssx3 route in regards to the tracks. SSX tricky was a much more enjoyable experience with tacks that were built just to be tracks and not part of a mountain."If we hit that bullseye the rest of the dominoes will fall like a a house of cards, checkmate." Actually thats a good idea, so long as there is a restart option hope they do something like that if they've gone down the SSX3 route for this new one. Of course you'd need to be able to rock the carriage, hawk and spit at people below you, proper chav like.

Registered 8 years agoWhat would also be fairly cool is that people could grind the ski lift so while your travelling up it you see real people grinding down it."If we hit that bullseye the rest of the dominoes will fall like a a house of cards, checkmate." Zapp Brannigan

Registered 8 years agoSSX Tricky was one of my favourite PS2 games, but the series seemed to lose something after that. The characters became lifeless and the courses weren't nearly as memorable as Tricky's.
I never liked the "one big mountain" idea, either. Probably contributed towards the blandness of the courses. -
New SSX!!!!

Just been looking through EAs job ads for clues, but there's only references to the new Need For Speed game Criterion are working on. Trying to spot any hints of extreme sports or snow based games. -
