Am well impressed with the hd installs, installed farcry 2. Not sure if im noticing less popups but it is certainly alot quieter when not using the disk drive.

Similarly I was trying to see any difference with the pop up in Saints Row 2. I don't think it's changed at all, so maybe it is down to the game engine itself. Probably not optimised to load from the HDD? Maybe future games will add that code in.
All it does is run exactly the same from the hard drive, which is quicker than accessing a disc.

That's what I thought, but will different games (game engines) provide more positive results? If a game has been told (coded) to not allow an object in the distance to spawn "until X", maybe you could add "until_HDD X" due to the increased read speed.

Hm. Do I really want to make an enemy of a person called 'Psycho'? You're not going to stab me in the shower and watch my claret go down the plughole, are you?

Fuck it. Come up to Glasgow.

Yes. Yes. Lost Odyssey is SHIT!

    The fights are shite.
    The story is shite.
    The music is shite.
    The moves are shite.
    The characters are shite

Rarely have I seen a game that is so far up its own arse. I have never played a Metal Gear Solid game, but I expect this is the same sort of annoyance I would have, being forced to watch (initially) unskippable cut-scenes of utter, utter bollocks.

Waste of silicon, manpower, resources and finally, waste of my fucking time. And I mean that most sincerely. Lost Odyssey is awful.

Aah you don't have very good taste in JRPGs then :)
  • Deleted user 2 November 2008 02:38:14
And by that I mean "any".

    :)

Look guys. Blue Dragon was stunning, by comparison. But Lost Odyssey? It was like watching a Russell Crowe film. (Anyone apart from The insider and L.A. Confidential).

I have been trying to get into that game for the better part of 7 months. I just can't face being bored by that game any longer.

BD was alright, LO was much the better game. It was challenging on at least some occasions for a start!

    I respectfully disagree.

It's funny... I actually enjoyed BD when I played it. But then I played LO and BD seemed like utter shite in comparison. Still a good game, just nothing on LO.

    I decline

    @Psycho
I felt the complete opposite. I thought that BD was okay, but after playing Lost Odyssey, thought that BD was a piece of genius.

Hmm? You downloaded it from somewhere?

    I've started 120 threads? FFS.

Ah, that version doing the rounds on torrent sites does not include avatars and can only be installed on a modded system. No avatars is a plus, but my 360 isn't modded. >:|

Apparently, the system does not have to be modded. It just won't allow you to connect to XBL until the official release date.
  • Deleted user 2 November 2008 03:31:45
Yes, but there are no avatars included. Now, I don't give a toss about XBL, but what happens when the 19th comes around and I connect back up without avatars included?

    Hmm!

That is a mystery. It's all conjecture, but I imagine that you will automatically download the complete NXE experience, complete with Avatars. They are surely not going to ban you for something that was inadvertently leaked from Microsoft. Surely.

it's not worth trying this, it's really not that big of a deal
  • Deleted user 2 November 2008 03:39:54
    hehe

I'm feeling curious to find out... I am planning on getting another 360 before the end of November anyway, so...

    /puts hand in fire
  • Deleted user 2 November 2008 03:41:52
Actually, why aren't avatars included anyway. I could end up with a system banned from XBL (no big deal tbh) but with the interface I'd like the most (HDD installs - minus avatars).

Apparently, you need Live to download the Avatars component.
