Was driving along this morning, going to work. All of a sudden, a cat darts out from the centre railing of the dual carriageway (first time ever I've used that word!) and crosses my path from the left. Didn't have time or room to manouvre, so the poor blighter goes under my wheels. If I didn't do it in, surely the huge yellow bus behind me did.

The moments right after that was aweful. Only thing I wanted to do was to pull over and cry a bit. Got a cat myself and this is exactly the reason why she's a house cat.

I feel like a right bastard now. Poor thing was probably on its way home for breakfast and a few hours of sleeping before going out again to raise hell.

    /gutted

I've never hit anything before in any way, so it's a double discomfort. Apart from manning the fuck up, getting a blog and stopping this emo shit I'll finish my chai tea with cream and rum and chase the Mrs from Lego Batman so I can play Fallout 3.

Shit, bad luck. I feel bad enough if I step on a snail in the wet.

Could have been worse, you could have fatally trodden on a kitten. I know two people who've done this. Both in front of their gfs.

I ran over one once and it ran off somewhere to die. This should become the official I ran over a cat thread and how to cope with being a c*nt.

That happened to me once. I don't even like cats but it's not a nice feeling. Worst thing was the 'clunk' sound of it hitting the wheel arch.

Silly bastard should have had better road sense, the cat that is, not you.

In addition you should never try and avoid animals in these sorts of cases, that's how more serious accidents are caused.

    Poor wee blighter though.

It's a case of you versus them, unfortunately. If you were to slam on, the bus would of twatted into the back of you, probably causing serious injury and a knackered car.

I felt the same when going down a road in St. Helens a few years ago, cars parked up on both sides of the road, hedgehod in the middle of the road, no time or space to swerve into, splat.

did you stop and scrape it up or just carry on with it hanging off the car?

Bad luck dude. I always feel bad when an animal dies, whether it's my fault or not. I've always been like this but never as bad; my girlfriend has turned me in to a great big softie :'(

One of my friends ran into a naked man on the motorway one night. He ended up coming through the windscreen and ending up on his lap.

To make matter worse he had no head.

I did the same thing once. It darted out in front of me, and I had to swerve massively. It was quite dangerous, but I managed to hit the bastard full on, so it was worth it.

'In the wet' clearly means something very different to me than for you. I think if I found a snail where I'm thinking of I would have unrelenting nightmares for the rest of my life.

I ran over a rabbit on a bicycle, I was riding the bicycle. Got it's head in my spokes and I nearly killed myself flying over the handlebars.

You almost can't avoid the squirrels in my neck of the woods. They get lazy when they have a big nut in their mouth and they're trying to cross the road. Suddenly being run over by a car doesn't matter as much as possibly losing some food.

Sorry to hear about the cat! It's too bad.

I have got over this particular issue on snails as the stupid gits insist on gathering on my door step for some reason (I have ruled out the idea I am some sort of snail god) and I have run out of guilt.

It wrecked my bike and I was quite badly beaten up. The rabbit was quite tasty which compensated slightly.

Cats are cunts, as they run away after being badly injured, to die slowly in agony somewhere you can't find them.

If it ran out from the central reservation and crossed you path from the left, you should probably brush up on the highway code.

(this post in no way loses any hilarity if it turns out he's from one of those colonial places)
