    I'd play Assassins Creed.

I haven't played the others but really the one I hear people keep going on about is Assassin's Creed.

I'll return the favour BF! It's another vote for AC. Only a few hours in to be honest, but it looks stunning and very openworldy, just nice to wander about taking in the ambience of Damascus!

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Uh, if you hear people going on about AC it's probably in a negative way I would've thought. Then again none of those look particularly appealing.

I'll vote for Eternal Sonata as it's also on my backlog, looks good, and I want to hear another opinion of if it's good or not :p

Blue Dragon is an easy and easygoing game that lasts about 25hrs. If you haven't played many jrpg before then you should like it. Lost Planet was ok in singleplayer but the multiplayer did have a good community when I played and was definitely one of my favourite shooters online. AC is great for a few hours, good for a few more, ok for a few more, tedious after that. Stranglehold is a good but basic shooter with explosive setpieces but does get repetitive after a while. Online wasn't very good. More like a bonus to the main game.

Eternal Sonata is a good rpg which has some long cutscenes and an interesting battle mechanic. It starts off quite hard but gets easier as you go through the game.

So no closer to a consensus .
Had a look at some of the Ass Creed reviews and I might leave it for another bit

Think I am going to narrow it down to either Blue Dragon or Eternal Sonata
    How long is Eternal Sonata?

How'd you find Mass Effect? :)

Assassin's Creed does seem to be marmite. Saw a clip of it a few days ago and got all nostalgic for it.

I think if you go Eternal Sonata > Blue Dragon > Infinite Undiscovery > Last Remnant > Lost Odyssey they compliment each other nicely.. Or at least they worked for me!!

I've just been playing Half Life 2 for 2 hours tonight after getting The Orange Box for only 11 new and sealed off thehut.com a while back.

Played it through once on the PC years ago but it is breathtaking even now.. :D

I'm trying to catch-up on oldies as well. Just got Assassin's Creed today and impressed so far. Very tempted to pick up BioShock and The Orange Box as well..

Mass Effect and Assasins Creed for sheer cinematic experience. Both draw you in from the word go.

Assasins Creed is awesome but when you get later into the game it becomes very samey till the very last sections. So play it a bit at a time if you are planning to do everything you can in the cities.

Mass Effect is just plain great except some of the side missions to various different planets are the same with just different planet types. Story on it is really good though and keeps you interested.

Stranglehold I found a little on the boring side and traded it in after doing the first few levels. Looks nice must admit, but just seems to be lacking overall.

    Moving away from the list

GRAW 2 is exceptional tactical shooter, controlling the ghosts is dead easy so you can concentrate on the missions at hand. If you like this I'd also get Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2

Gears 1 & 2 are great shooters and worthy of anyones collection. Bit meaty weapons, characters and some of the enemies are great. Gears 2 has a great level involving a giant worm.

Fallout 3 is another great RPG, if you like Oblivion and get past the whole its not Oblivion you will get hours of enjoyment out of it.

How does GRAW2 compare to GRAW1? As I played GRAW1 aaaaaaaaages ago and found it quite good fun... The demo of GRAW2 wasn't that great, though...

Stranglehold. Not because your list is shocking (Too Human and Mass Effect are awful, awful games), but because it's decent fun and is easily finished within six hours, which will make your to play list shorter.

I didn't like GRAW to much. Had it on the PC and just couldn't get away with it. Second one though is kind of like a 3rd person action game. Some of the levels are amazing, love the level at night where you have the goggles on and have to make it through the graveyard and then take out the snipers. Its just so addictive to play.

Mass Effect awful? Sorry but surely you mean awesome?
Can't comment on Too Human as I haven't played it. Have you?

Lost Planet is a fun blast, and only a handful-and-a-bit hours long.

I haven't played many of those... Lost Planet is ok, but not amazing.

After Eternal Sonata I reckon you want to play Stranglehold.

After playing Eternal Sonata twice some people might think I need drugs lots and lots of drugs. Somewhere in the region of about 90hrs. They may be right.

Then again I did pump something like 100 into Tales of Symphonia and 70+ into Enchanted Arms (really liked that one)

    Lost planet short eh? Hmmmm
