Inherited a load of games from the brothers before the went off to Oz

    Including:
    Mass Effect
    Stranglehold
    Blue Dragon
    Lost Planet
    Assassins Creed

So where to start? Have not touched Fable II yet.

Mass Effect. Now. Play it now.

If you can read this, you don't need glasses.

I have only played mass effect and blue dragon out of them, I enjoyed them both but most people don't like blue dragon, it is a fairly standard JRPG. I presume they would take the most time to complete because of their genre - so you may want to do a couple of the others first.

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

Assassins Creed, because no one else is going to recommend that.

And if you do play it, turn off the HUD. Please.

    Fable 2.

Either Fable 2 or Mass Effect. You can forget the rest.

Mass Effect has a genuinely great story line although the game can become a bit repetitive at times. Just whizz through the main story then chuck on the finished pile.

    Another vote for Mass Effect.

Lost Planet I'd sling in the bin personally, just didn't get along with it at all.
  • Deleted user 26 October 2008 22:35:17
You probably want to play Mass Effect before you touch Fable II as it seems quite... to be frank... bad in comparison.

Ok frank, so you think Fable II is better then?

    Frank says so, I agree.

Mass Effect is an excellent sci-fi RPG, loved it. Fable 2 is great but a different type of RPG completely.

MASS EFFECT HINTS: play the female Shepard (voice acting is far better), go rescue the Asari scientist first and, if necessary, ignore side quests as they're mostly identikit maps... unless you really like the atmosphere and are experience / achievement whoring ;)

Stranglehold is great as a John Woo game, I really enjoyed playing through that. PLUS: you can shoot chinese gangsters in the 'nads in slow motion.

Assassin's Creed I also really enjoyed, just don't expect a GTA clone, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the scale of the maps.

Hated the Lost Planet demo, and haven't touched my copy of Blue Dragon so I can't comment on that one :)

Cheers Retroid. Where did the GTA clone thing come from? A little left field.

Didn't really think much of the Lost Planet demo either so I didn't pick it up and the same goes for Blue Dragon. But now that I have them for free I may as well give them a go.

Added a bit about Mass Effect :)

I think the whole open world aspect of AC got blown out of proportion. It's got a horrible lack of variety when it comes to what you have to do to properly clear each area but I really liked it inspite of that.

Assassins Creed can be played for a couple of hours and enjoyed but most of the game will feel monotonous after a while and the ending is especially disappointing. At a Halo 2 scale.

Not really, at least not for me. But then I tried to find out as much as I possibly could from everyone, wherever I was ;)

Oh I did that mostly as well. I enjoyed it for the animations and stringing together nice combat sequences.

But I don't expect everyone to be as simplistic as me.

Ok time to drag this up again.

Same story as before clearing the backlog. I have Crackdown to finish off too. So it will be that and one other.

    CoD3
    CoD4
    Stranglehold
    Blue Dragon
    Lost Planet
    Assassins Creed

    Which one though?

You can do the single player CoD 4 campaign in around 10 hours (give or take) on normal. I found it quite enjoyable. The multiplayer has kept me going back.

Blue Dragon needs around 40 hours, not everyone thought it was that great, even fans of the genre. I found it to drag at times but enjoyed the end section.

Back again for more punishment with some new ones - leaving out the COD ones and EDF for the moment. So from this little lot below:

    Stranglehold
    Blue Dragon
    Lost Planet
    Assassins Creed
    Too Human
    Eternal Sonata

Which one would you choose? Cannot make me mind up. Too many :(
